I am going to be a partner in a new SEO business so I want to design a kickass website.  Since some of the best commercials during the Super Bowl were beer commercials I figure these guys know what they are doing.

So if I want something awesome, I figure this would be a good place to start. I am looking for something that is unique and provides a different experience from my competition.

seo1 Driving Traffic to a Custom Website Design

Here is the idea in a nut shell.

I am going to use my competition to drive traffic to my site.

I am actually “using” the competitions efforts, and their money to drive traffic to my site.

I am building a brand new site that isn’t even a day old and I want to start driving traffic to it now, today.

Let’s get started…

I do not want to just build a site and try and drive traffic to the site to make the sale. After all the sale is going to be made on the SMM.com.co site and not on the SEOWatchDog.org site. Selling a product, and promoting a product on a website is going to take a lot of traffic and a lot of pre-selling before I can start seeing any kind of results.

I want to come in the back door so I do not have to compete head up with swarms of other motivated SEO’s for the same keywords day one.

The idea is that most people are searching for a solution to a problem. Potential clients are first exposed to online products through either a social media site or one of the major search engines.

Either they buy on impulse, leave and don’t buy, or they research the product before buying it.

When buyers are researching a product, they’re usually very close to making a purchase. They want to justify the purchase before making it and are looking for proof online. As with all of us they want to get the most bang for their buck.

So they head to Google and type in “companies name review”, or “companies name how their work is” or whatever and this is where we want to come up in the top 3.

This people are looking for actual feedback in the form of, opinions, complaints, red-flags, or the “green light”.

And this is where I want to step into the process. I want to put myself in the middle of a sale that I know is about to take place.

What I am going to be doing is reviewing other SEO’s products – with a bit of a twist:

You see I am not trying to sell a product; I am actually intercepting a sale in progress and giving them what they want – proof & justification.

I am going to make a review for each SEO company and for each product that I want get “research traffic” from and clearly present it on my product-info page. The purpose of this page is to get organic search engine traffic from long-tail keywords, so I need to include:

  • The company’s name
  • The person associated with the company
  • The company’s domain name
  • And so on

I want to right a review, a kickass detailed review about different SEO companies.

In addition to the typical “review”, I want to search for actual user feedback and then take some of the comments and use them on the review page as well.

The idea is to come across as a reporter rather than a reviewer.

I am not trying to sell anyone anything.

All I am doing is putting together facts about the company and making it easy for the website visitor to make a purchase decision!

The reason for this;

  1. I am getting free exposure for someone else’s hard work. Instead of marketing my website, I am siphoning my traffic from someone else’s hard work by intercepting people who are in the process of making a purchase decision.
  2. My traffic is free, targeted and I can rank for as many trademarked terms as I want. Nothing is stopping me from ethically mentioning product names, trademarks, brands, etc. in my site content as long as I am using the proper “R” or “TM” symbols and disclaimers.
  3. I no longer have to create effective sales copy as all I am doing is a review of someone else’s business. I should be able to build a 100-page site with a ton of unique, highly-targeted content in a weeks’ time.
  4. Now I am going to set up a newsletter and forum for the SEO site. You see all my visitors are prequalified and are making a purchase decision based on my content. And I am targeting the visitors that matter:

    BUYERS.

I will also have a newsletter on the site and as people subscriber I already know that this is more of a serious crowd than most.

  5.  All the selling has been done, and we know there is a demand for the product so all I am doing is assisting with the final decision. There should be no question as to whether this will drive traffic to my site or not.

From the home page of the site I will promote my services.

The idea is to cut out the thinking and get started on the working.

Okay, I want to show you a couple of the neat little things you can do inside the WordPress Admin area that most people do not know about.

So let’s log in and play around.

First thing we need to do is go to our website home page and either click a “log in” link like the one above or if we have do not have one then we need to add wp-admin after the URL.

SEO Watch Dog 1024x323 Custom WordPress Designers

Like the image below.

wordpress wp admin Custom WordPress Designers

From here we should get a page that looks like this.

wp log in Custom WordPress Designers

Now once we log in we should get a page that looks like this.

wp control panel 1024x549 Custom WordPress Designers

This is the control panel that we use to add content to the site as well as add pages, images, photos, videos and control the site.

wp drag drop 1024x395 Custom WordPress Designers

By clicking the screen options link we can pick the number of columns we want to show up on our blog. We can then drag and drop everything in the order we want it to show. This gives us control of the look and feel of the admin area.

seo watch dog sections 1024x730 Custom WordPress Designers

I now need to figure out where each section is controlled from within the admin control panel. And I want to play with the logo a little with its spacing and colors as well as add a phone number to the header.

Web Design1 WordPress for Websites

WordPress is currently the world’s number one blogging software.

What I want to talk about in the next couple post is how to use WordPress’s open-source software to build and maintain a website. You see, WordPress is not just for blogs anymore.

WordPress is a content management system — a system that can be customized into exactly what you need. It does not matter rather you are building a blog or a full-fledged website with a shopping cart. WordPress can do it all.

WordPress offers the easiest way to set up and maintain a website. The other really cool thing about WordPress is that because it is open source software, there is a high demand for ever-changing features.

With WordPress you have a framework that makes for both easy and fast upgrades as well as design and technological changes.  All the above and the fact that it seems to becoming more and more popular by the day has caused me to want to spend a little time learning the software.

I am thinking about changing Geeks on Steroids to work exclusively with WordPress. When it comes time for my clients to change text, add new pages, photos, videos or anything else if the CMS makes the changes difficult, then my clients are less likely to do them. With WordPress, not only are we using the easiest and best CMS on the market but we can create “how to videos” to teach and show anyone how to do anything using WordPress.

If we can make using the CMS exciting then our clients will be more involved with their website. I want our clients thinking about what they can change or add to make their sites better.

WordPress puts the power of the website in the owner’s hands, where it should be.

I am going to start at a beginner’s level and work my way up post by post here on this blog.

I want to start by showing you how to make the software work for you in real-world situations, and I want to do that by showing the tips and tricks that make things really simple.

I will be doing this in both print and video.

articlewriting Custom Web Designers and SEOIn my last post I talked about how important keywords are for your business.

By knowing which keywords are relevant to your business and what keywords your potential customers are searching for when trying to find the type of products or services you offer, helps you increase the chances of being found by the people who are searching for the things you sell. This means you get quality traffic to your website.

It is difficult to know exactly which keywords will get the most relevant people to your website but by determining the popularity and competitiveness of those keywords and testing and analyzing how effective the keywords are in drawing the visitors to your website, you can figure it out.

So the first thing to do is to make sure that the right people are finding your businesses online.

Unless you are a big company like Coca-Cola your business name is not going to be what people are searching for when looking for your services and products.

So…when you choosing keywords based on relevancy, for example; if someone wanted to start a web design business a good keyword would not be design.

  1. It isn’t very relevant. Someone could be looking for car designs, boat designs, house designs, so chances of someone not becoming overwhelmed and redefining their search is pretty slim. About as slime as someone searching for designs who is actually looking for a web designer.
  2. As a small to medium-size business we want a less competitive keyword. Something more specific and more related to our business. A lot of people refer to these as longtail keywords. People determine how competitive a keyword is by how the number of searches that are being done on that keyword every month.

There are a lot of tools online that can be used to determine how competitive a specific keyword is.

An important factor in picking a keyword is how relevant it is to your business. But ranking for a keyword that no one is searching for is also a waste of time because chances are it’s not going to driving traffic to your business.

It’s about finding a balance between being relevant and being difficult to rank for. To start with you need to find the best ten keywords that match your business, really well.
