Being able to make money online or offline is being able to look at something all the competition is already doing and figuring out a way to make it both unique and fun.

Generating Revenue with Good Planning

Okay…as always I am going to go against the grain and talk about how to really make money online, without the BS.

For anything to work well, care must be taken to make firm, workable plans to execute it and the same goes for website designs. With a well thought out website design, you will be able to create a site that generates multiple streams of revenue for you. The truth is that most websites turn into online wastelands because they are not well planned and never get a single visitor. Gradually, the webmaster becomes unmotivated to update it and it turns into wasted cyberspace.

The crucial point of planning your site is optimizing it for revenue, if you want to gain any income from the site. Most people go for the easy to get start plan of either selling ad space or becoming an affiliate. If they chose the path of lest residents (which is selling ad space) they soon find this harder to do then they first realized and resort to Google AdSense before the end of the month.  The idea is to drive as much traffic to your site as possible and hope that someone clicks on an ad and you make a penny.

Of course affiliate marketing works the same way except you make a little more money but the visitor has to buy something rather than just click on the ad. The reasons both these plans suck is that you never get to build any sort of relationship with your site visitor and you constantly have to look for new site visitors. However, by selling a service or product of your own you are able to build a relationship with your site visitor, make more money, sell a unique service or product and resell to exiting clients.

So if you are serious about making money online then you need to get serious about building a business and not just trying to wing it for an hour or two a month.

It’s all a numbers game

At the moment I know that if I get 1000 visitors per day, then I’ll get around about 3 leads per day. So…this means that if I’m able to drive 3,000 visitors per day to the website then I’m able to get approximately 10 leads per day.

If I am able to convert at 10% then this means that every 200 potential clients will convert into 20 clients.

Knowing this information allows me to look at the parts of the business that will allow me to improve and make more money.

Online Trends

There is a wide range of marketing research reports that document the growth and opportunities in local search. Below is a short summary:

• 97% of American internet users use the internet to shop of which 57% characterize their behavior as shop online, purchase offline (NPD Group)

• 90% of online commercial searches result in offline bricks and mortar purchases (proprietary research / comScore)

• 82% of local searchers follow up offline via an in-store visit, phone call or purchase (TMP / comScore)

• 80% of budgets are spent within 50 miles of the home (DMA / proprietary)

• 74% of internet users perform local searches (Kelsey Group)

• 73% of online activity is related to local content (Google)

• 66% of Americans use online local search, like Google local search

• 61% of local searches result in purchases (TMP / comScore)

• 54% of Americans have substituted the internet and local search for phone books (comScore networks)

• 35% of all searches are local (DM News)

• 25% of internet searches have a purely local, commercial focus (Kelsey-Bizrate)

As you can see there is a lot of potential with on and offline marketing to drive thousands if not millions of daily visitors to our websites.

It works the same as the fitness industry. New gimmicks are not targeted at athletes, (because they understand it’s about hard work). The fitness industry targets the couch potatoes because they will purchase new equipment, expensive supplements in the hopes that this new thing will be “the answer.”

If you want to make money online it’s about hard work. There is no easy money.

It’s hard to make money online … it’s a heck of lot harder than in the real world. And to make it worst the majority of ‘make money online’ products are a complete and total waste of time and money.

If you want to try and make money online … then learn by doing … starting NOW.

The internet is constantly changing and one has to adjust to those changes.

When you buy a book or product about how to make money online, chances are the method is outdated before you finish the first chapter. Getting started is the only way to learn. And that doesn’t’ mean selling an e-book about how to make money online when you’ve never made money online. Go free or cheap until you’ve built something that’s worthy of a financial investment.

NO ONE can tell you how to succeed on the Internet :: because no one knows. There are a million methods and a million products and just because one method worked for one product doesn’t mean that method is going to work for a different product.

Making Money Online

When it comes to making money online there are two things we need to focus on, creativity and profits. To be creative you first need to understand your options and how these options influence other settings.

To increase profits you need to understand conversion and bidding options. By understanding both conversion and profits we are able to put the right ad in front of the right person and this will increase the company’s overall profits.

It’s not about just understanding how a feature works but understanding what strategies can be used with that feature to get the most out of it. For the next couple days I am going to look at how to make money with pay-per-click advertising and I’ll be looking into things like:

• Keywords

• Ad copy

• Quality score

• Time-of-day targeting

• Testing ad copy

• Testing landing pages

• Profit by impression testing

• Account organization

There are so many options with pay-per-click advertising that it’s often hard to determine where to start so…we will be walking through how to get started as well as how to make money with pay-per-click advertising.
