A web designer is someone that is able to take several types of artwork put them together in his/her own style and make it tell a story about the product or service that the client is trying to sale.
My job is to come behind that artist and make the site direct the visitor into the direction the website owner wants them to go. When I am not doing that I am posting on social media sites and looking for interesting things to write about and that is where Trey Ratcliff comes in.
Try has does some really amazing things.

Growing up one of the things I use to love doing was looking at book covers. Book covers (like a website) had to tell a story and only had seconds to do it.
Years later it seems that I am still looking at the book covers but in a different way.
It’s now art and it’s telling a story and I not only want to see the book cover but I want to see what else the artist behind the book cover has done.
Mike Nash is one of those artists that interest me. Mike has many years experience in art and design, and supplies unique artwork to clients throughout the world for use in books, films, games and theatre.
He has worked in a variety of art styles and is experienced in pencil drawn designs, model making, photography, animation and digital painting.
He has a passion for detail and enjoys capturing texture, contrast and realistic lighting effects. Despite his interest in fictitious subjects he harnesses a sense of realism, narrative and history within his designs. As a result his work balances on the divide between plausibility and fantasy.

If I had to name the one thing I’ve learned the most about in the last year I’d have to say art. Art is all around us and when it comes to designing websites you have to have an artistic edge.
But an artistic edge is just one part of web designing. To be a truly great web designer you have to know how to get people to react to your website. Your website has to be designed in such a way that it will guide your website visitor and direct them down the paths you want them to go.
The artistic edge allows us to get the colors just right as well as the look and feel of the site but it ends there. The rest comes from learning and practicing our trade.
If you take a look at some of the artwork by Tom Lane you can tell that he is a true artist, however his website leaves us confused and dazed.

Web Designing Is More than Artwork

I’ve been blessed undeservingly by God, when it comes to my web design business and my life. Over the years I’ve hired some really talented web designers and they have helped in making my business what it is today.
I am often asked where I get my ideas for my websites as well as my content for my blog. The truth is, I’ve never had an original idea, they are started elsewhere and then I add my own little twist. A lot of the inspiration for this site comes from abduzeedo.
He has some really great artwork on his site and I use it for inspiration and ideas for my posting. He currently has a case study from a young Irish designer/illustrator Jonathan Wong on his site.
You can check it out here and the artwork below came from that case study as well.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you’re a designer then you have to be able to manipulate photos.
The term graphic design can refer to a number of artistic and professional jobs which focus on visual communication and presentation. Various methods are used to create and combine symbols, images and/or words to create a visual idea and message.
A graphic designer uses typography, visual arts and page layout techniques to produce the final result. Graphic design often refers to both the process (designing) by which the communication is created and the products (designs) which are generated.
Common uses of graphic design include magazines, advertisements, product packaging and web design. For example, a product package might include a logo or other artwork, organized text and pure design elements such as shapes and color which unify the piece. Composition is one of the most important features of graphic design especially when using pre-existing materials or diverse elements.
All that being said I found some phots from Josh Sommers who is a very good photo manipulation artist and has even done work for companies like playboy. Checkout some of his work below.
