1. Sell a product/service

First you can sell a product or service to your visitors. This is the best way to cash in from your own product. Usually an e-book or software works the best – they can be downloaded right away without hassle and shipping charges.

2. Opt-In list

It is crucial you try to convert every visitor of yours to a subscriber of your mailing list. The most important asset that an Internet marketer has is his or her list of subscribers. They define whether you will go far in the online business venture.

With an opt-in list, there are tons of ways you can profit further into the future. You can build repeat customers and turn your list members into partners for your products.

3. Viral marketing

You can provide a free product or bonus on your site to be downloaded by your visitors. Usually it’ll be an e-book where people can read from and learn useful information. In this bonus, you include give away rights and urge readers to give it away to anyone they want to. This way, you increase your own traffic, publicity and branding without needing to spend a cent.

4. ‘Pay-per-click’

In this case, you get paid when your visitors click on ads you place on your site. There are many advertising programs that give you a percentage of the profits based on click through, including Google Adsense, Chitika, Yahoo Publisher Network and Kontera.

If you don’t have your own products for sale yet, you can sell other people’s products instead and receive a commission on every sale. With affiliate marketing, you have an unlimited source of products to sell and you don’t need to go through any fulfillment issues after your sales.

Instead of earning money from click through, you are paid if your visitors subscribe into other people’s mailing list. Alternatively there are a lot of big companies like Coca-Cola who need surveys to be done, and by referring your visitors to complete surveys, you can also earn good profits from your website.

Today is one of those days that I really don’t feel like having to do a lot of thinking. I want to relax a little and not have to spend all day trying to write about new ways of marketing or for that matter having to talk to 50 people throughout the day about marketing.

Affiliate marketing has a lot of downsides to it but then there are also a lot of upsides. One upside is that I don’t have to talk to or deal with any clients, the downside is that you have to work you butt of and hope the guy on the other end pays you when it’s all said and done but that’s about the same with everything we do.

After a little thought and very little sleep I’ve decided to spend this week on affiliate marketing.

I get a lot of emails from people who want to know how to make Money online and I understand how confusing and difficult it can be. I spend a lot of time writing and posting on forums and blogs, one of the reasons I do this is it helps me to think about what direction I want to be going in.

There are so many ways to make money online that it can be overwhelming. And I’ve made money from just about every way you can imagine.

I am going to explain why I don’t like affiliate marketing, yet I do have affiliate sites and I make money with those sites. Once I finish this post I will write and explain to you how great affiliate marketing is and how to make money doing it.

Seems a bit confusing, doesn’t it.

Here’s the thing.

I like affiliate marketing because it allows me to test marketing methods and make money online without having to directly deal with clients. However, there are a lot of downsides to affiliate marketing and it’s the reason I tell people it’s not the best place to start.

When doing affiliate marketing you are selling someone else’s product, you are relying on them to have a website that is able to convert the traffic. You can have the best site in the world but if the site you are sending them to is offline, not working properly or just flat out can’t convert the traffic then it’s all a waste of time. You are at the Mersey of someone else.

And once you make the sale you’ll normally have to wait 45 days to get paid for all your work. And a lot of companies will start changing the way they pay, and what they pay for once you start making serious money. I was making over $15,000.00 per month with one of my affiliate sites and the guy felt I was making too much.

He even asked me one day why someone in Colombia needed so much money. He tried everything he could to cut down the amount I was making, we finally parted ways.

But the real kicker is the backend sale. Most money is made on the backend. As an affiliate the second that customer makes the sale you lose them. They are now someone else’s client and you will have to keep working to find new ones.

The hardest part of making money is finding the new client the money is in keeping the old ones.

I hope that all makes sense and now I’ll move on to all the ways to make money online.

My biggest problem with affiliate marketing is that there is no Back-End.

The back-end is the most important part of any business. I know companies that will give affiliates 100% on the front-end because they know they will make it back on the back-end.

The back-end is vital to any business yet the affiliate marketer gets cut out of the back-end.

The back-end is the repeat customer and learning how to use the backend is the key to the success of any business. If you can get a customer to buy another product from you in 45 days then you double the value of that customer.

You have to motivate your customers to come back and buy a similar product or service.

Finding a customer is the hard part making a repeat customer out of them should be the easy part.

Believe it or not web designing is an art and not only is it an art but it is an art that goes way beyond other forms of artwork. To master the art of web designing you have to be able to guide a web visitor in the direction you want them to go.

The art of web designing requires an artist to be able to put several forms of artwork together and make them work in perfect harmony. When someone comes up and wants a discount or a special offer on a web design it’s difficult to do so without losing the quality.

About the only time I am willing to discount a web design is when it’s something that I really want to do.

For Example

If someone came up and had an idea for a website design that played off a Wild West theme then I would get excited. There is something about the Wild West that intrigues me and I know I would enjoy doing a Wild West type of website.

So much so that I would give a special price, maybe even do it for free, because it’s a web design that I could get into.

Maybe the years of doing web design work has started to get to me but I now find myself more interested in doing web designs that appeal to me then just doing the next piece work in hopes of getting another dollar to spend.

It’s one of the reasons I find myself getting more and more involved in affiliate marketing.
