"Custom Website Designs, Search Engine Optimization, Social Media Marketing - They're All Supposed To Achieve The Same Goal - Drive Traffic and Make Sales!

So...Why Do So Many People Own Websites THAT Never Make a Profit?"

How would you like to Outmaneuver, Outwit, Out Market and Outsmart the Competition?

I'll get straight to the point.

Janeth Duque

On the Internet, your business is competing against tens or hundreds or even thousands of websites all doing the same type of business as you.

Your website has to stand out from the crowd.

It's about ... Marketing!

You need a website that is powerful, emotional and shows the visitor that his or her life would be more complete - better, easier, more productive, more profitable and happier - if he or she owned what it is you're selling.

Your web design needs to move the visitor while your content grabs them, working together they should build confidence in both your business and products.

All our websites are designed with a high priority given to conversion and traffic. Other words, anyone can build a website but very few can build websites that are able to rank high in the search engines and turn web visitors into customers.

Without those two things, you’ve failed at online marketing.

Geeks on Steroids is obsessed with building websites and doing SEO that is able to totally dominate a market.

Get Started

webdesing Custom Website DesignersI’ve got my guys building and designing a new website over at http://elitemodeling.co/.

It’s rare that I get involved in any of the projects at Geeks on Steroids, but I decided starting next year I would be a little more hands on. The office felt I should start now so I will be handling everything on this project, and this is actually the only project I’ve ever handled by myself other than Geeks on Steroids.

But since Geeks on Steroids was voted as the third best online marketed web design company in the world, I’d hate to not be able to put this site in the same standings with the web cam modeling business.

So let’s get started.

I’ve got one of the girls in the office creating a profile on Facebook, the second she finishes I will have one of the guys create us a Facebook Page. Once the page is created I’ll get one of the girls to get some “likes” to the page so I can set up the page URL. We’ll have to have 25 people come to the page and click the “like” button before we can set the URL up.

Here’s what I am thinking:

I’ll use a keyword like “how to model” (that gets millions of searches a month) for my main keyword on this page and later I’ll create some more with male models, female models and so on and so on.

I will then set up an opt-in account with AWebber and write a couple e-books about modeling.

It would work like this, I create a profile for a girl and she starts making friends on Facebook. She then launches a Facebook page where she gives away a free e-book on how to become a model, in exchange for their email addresses. They get a free e-book as well as a newsletter that comes out 3 times a week.

The emails will offer bonuses like free videos to watch and eBooks to read and things like that. When someone watches a kick ass video on how to become a model they will get access to a second video for free just by getting 5 of their friends to sign up. This will happen for every video you watch and every eBook you read.

Now this same thing would be going on on the other side, where men and woman can opt in to look at photos and get weekly newsletters. As you go through the different website and different emails you will be able to opt. into different email list.

So…I’d have one main email list where I could email everyone on a special deal or something that we have going on, and then there would be another that we could mail out for a specific topic like guys who are interested in modeling, woman under the age of 18 and we are able to group those together to run specials.

I’ve also got programmers working on the page layout and the second they finish, I’ll get the designer to clean it up and get the programmer started on getting the programming done. I’ll also set up the Meta and title tags as well as alt and image tags to help us rank the site on the search engines for some keywords.

I’ll also be creating 20 blogs each centered on a keyword, so one of the first things I need to do is figure out which keywords I want to rank for.

This is the plan for the weekend;

Marketing with Twitter

I am going to start by creating myself a new twitter account.

Then I want to fill out my profile information, photo and customize my profile’s look, so I don’t look like a spammer. And then I want to make about 10 little tweets.

What is Twitter?

It’s a conversation.

Twitter is a way for you to connect with people. It’s a way to communicate with your customers, and done correctly even find new customers.

If you are good at it, then you can use it to drive traffic to your blog or website. And if you know what you are doing, then you can convert that traffic into a paying customers. And let’s not forget that it is also a tool for educating people about your product or service.

It’s a form of email marketing where you have a list, and everyone on that list has opted in.

What Twitter is not?

It’s not a place where you do nothing but market your product.

Tell a joke, inspire me, educate me, let me know what’s up, and I’ll put up with your occasional attempt at trying to sale me something. But if you are really good, and if you care, you will try and camouflage those attempts as much as you can.

I read the other day that 60% of the people that use tweeter this month won’t use it next month?

That tells me I need to get my followers off of twitter and onto another way of contacting them each and every day.

Twitter has two big problems

• People leave after playing around with the site for a couple days.

• People like the site and stay around but get so many followers that your message gets ignored.

Step 1: Build our list with Twitter

Step 2: Start Tweeting

Step 3: Move our followers to our list

By following people, (in most cases), they will follow me back. I want to follow people who are interested in sex and modeling. We are trying to build a targeted list, so we want people who are interested in the same topic that we are selling stuff for.
So I am going to use Twitters search feature to look for people who are interested in the same type of products that we are trying to sale.

I am going to follow recent followers, of our competitors and colleagues. In most cases people that are following them on Twitter are their best fans and customers. All I need to do is engage them better than our competition and then move them onto our list.

The best time to follow people is from 1pm – 3pm M-F and 6pm – 10pm M-F. Following people in the morning is the worst and Sunday night is the best.

Here’s what I want to do.

I will go to search.twitter.com and type in the keywords we want to rank for. There are tons of people talking about all kinds of topics. If I find someone talking about something I know the answer to, then I will reply to their question. Once the conversation is over I will try and follow them in hopes that they will follow me back.

We want people that do a lot of updates but aren’t following a million people. If they are following thousands of people than any message we send will most likely disappear into the crowd.

All I have to do is be more interesting than the competition. Find the competition, follow their followers and tweet in blocks. Talk about things that are not directly related to my topic along with things that are related to my topic. I don’t want to be a one trick pony.

I will start at the beginning of their list of followers, because those are the people that have just started following them. I will follow about 50 people per day, give them 3 days to follow me and if they don’t, I will un-follow them. Once I get about 500 people on my list I will start following about 10% of my list every day.

The best days to tweet are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, tweeting on the days that are best, allows me to get the most out of my tweets. However, I want to tweet 7 days a week but don’t want to kill myself doing it.

The best times to tweet are from 11am until 3pm. and evening from 8pm until 11pm. But I want to tweet in blocks of 8.

One tweet has no impact, so I want to tweet in blocks of 5 – 15 tweets at a time in an 8 minute time period.

Sources to get content;
• Google Alerts
• AllTop.com
• StuffToTweet.com
• Digg

I’ll use those sites to find information to tweet about, along with using famous quotes and jokes. If I find a good article and send it out to the people that are following me, then it only helps them find what I felt was an interesting article.

With Digg I can go back for a year and find something with a really good title and article to link to. I want my tweets to be so good that people are looking forward to my next tweet. Everything I send out does not have to be on our topic.

What I want to do is send tweets that link back to our own content mixed in with the other content throughout the day.

I will then put an exit pop-up on our blogs and try and collect their email address in exchange for an eBook. We should be sending out about 7 good tweets to every 2 we send out for our blog. A total of 5 promotions per day, we can get away with this because it’s not the same people every time. Most people only go on at a certain time of the day. Only a small percent of my audience will see my message each time I send it out.

Obligate Me to Be Nice

If I am getting something out of your blog, newsletter, group or even chats then I’ll feel obligated to buy your product.

Show me that you’re On My Side

When I first land on your site you are my enemy, you want something that I have, you want my money. The problem is that I also want my money. So you need to convince me that we have a common enemy and you can help me defeat that enemy.

That enemy could be being overweight, arthritis, finding a mate, money or any other of millions of problems that we encounter in our life time.  Just convince me that my desire for my money is less them my desire of defeating this common enemy and most of all that you can help me do it.

Make Me #1

Everyone wants to be admired by their peers, so how can your product cause my peers to envy me?

Okay, Let Me Think About This

Basically here’s what I want to happen when I land on your site.

I Was Sacred Into Buying Something Once

I ran across a website one time that was selling a chair that was supposed to help your back. Well it actually was supposed to do more than just help your back; it was supposed to prevent your back from getting crooked. And they had all kinds of pictures and facts and figures and I didn’t want to take any risk so I bought the chair.

It started falling apart a week later so I’ll never buy anything else from them had they had a decent chair I would have continued to buy from them from now on.

All of that to say that fear is also a trigger point.

Make me think its The Smart thing To Do

If your product can somehow make me believe that the smart thing to do is to buy your product, then I might be sold. After all, don’t we all want to look and act smart?

You could use the price, guarantee or the social proof to convince me of this.

The Whole save The World Thing

People want to think of themselves as helpful and good people you know, generous and compassionate. Green products make people feel like they’re doing their part in saving the planet.

Of course so does giving a percent of the money to a charity.

Make Me Feel Better About Myself

I guess everyone has something that they wish they could change about themselves, rather it be physical or mental. A product or service that reduces feelings of insecurity would be a pretty cool product to have in deed.

Have you Ever Noticed?

Most websites have one main product.

While they may be selling all kinds of different products, there is one main product that all the pages link back to.

I would hope that this is the best product the store has to offer, if they are linking to it because it has the largest profit margin then they could be hurting that same profit margin by doing so.

If I bought that product my thought would be, this is the best they can do. So if it wasn’t up to spec I would never buy from them again.

My Thoughts

I’ll most likely visit your website more than a couple times before I make a purchase. You should lay your website out in such a way that you can hit me with some sort of trigger, (that I might not have seen the last time was on the site) each time I visit.

socialbookmarketing Building Websites for ConversionThis is a follow up to my post about what I’d be looking for if I was going to make a purchase online.

Make Me Feel Like I Belong

I want to feel like I am special even superior to your other customers you know like first class air travel, or at the very least put me in my own group like luxury cars and sports cars and let’s not forget that someone who buys a hybrid car joins the “environmentally friendly” group.

Help Me Believe You!

Start off by showing me the proof to back up what you are about to claim. If you start off this way then you’ll build some trust with me so that by the time we get to the end of the page you want have to prove as much. Keep in mind that one wrong move tears it all down, and once it’s torn down it’ll be difficult to ever build back.

What Have You Done For Others?

Show me some of your past clients so I can get an idea of the type of work you do as well as an idea of how your product is going to work for me.

Why should I pick you over your competition?

I’d much rather buy my supplements from a doctor rather than from a garbage man. What makes you better than your competition?

Oh…and I’ll be more impressed by what you’ve done in the business world more so then you school degrees.

What’s Your Social Profile Look Like?

Are people recommending you or are they saying stay away?

Be Specific

If you show me exact dates and times I am more likely to believe you then if you just use a general ideas.

blogmarketing Website DesignersDon’t Make Me Wait!

I’ve only got a limited amount of time here on earth and I don’t want to spend it trying to learn how to use your system. I can always make more money but I can never make more time, so make it simple easy and fast.

The value in your product is in how long it’s going to take me to enjoy its benefits.

For A Limited Time

It doesn’t matter rather I need it now or not if something is about to run out then I need to decide if this is a product I might ever use.  The playing field changes immediately, it’s no longer about rather I’ve ever needed the product or rather I need it now but it’s about rather I might ever need this product in the future.

You must keep in mind that every time you use a trigger it creates skepticism, so you need to understand me well enough to convince me that the trigger is real.

Make Me like You

The more I like you the greater my chances are of buying from you.

How do you get me to like you?

By being;

  • Honest
  • Having Integrity
  • Having Generosity
  • Being Helpful
  • Caring
  • Fair

And keep in mind, it doesn’t have to be you being helpful me, if I see you helping someone else, it will also make me like you.
Getting Personal

This has been overdone to the point it makes me sick.

And what makes me even sicker is that I am someone who did start with nothing and worked my way to where I am today. I picked coffee to support my family at the age of 7 and at the age of 15 I was kicked out of the house to make room for my younger brothers and sisters.

So if you have a story that will inspire me then tell it, but if it’s all BS then please keep it to yourself.

Tell what’s bad about Your Product

If all you do is tell me how great your product is then I’ll have a hard time believing you. However, if you were to tell me something that isn’t so good about your product and at the same time doesn’t raise any red flags with me about your product, then you could build some real trust with me.

articlemarketing 300x214 Website Design & CovnersionIt’s really a little scary when you think about it. I wonder how much junk I’ve bought that I really didn’t need?

I wonder how much junk you’ve bought that you really didn’t need?

But I also wonder what would happen if everyone stopped buying junk, that they didn’t need?

If people stopped buying junk they didn’t need then the junk stores wouldn’t have anything to sale and the manufactures of junk wouldn’t need employees. We wouldn’t buy a car except once everyone ten years and no toys for the kids at Christmas. We could grow our own crops and while it sounds like we are saving a bundle the truth is none of us are working, so we are losing money instead.

So for the world to survive I need to explain to my husband why I need to keep buying junk. But for all you website owners, I could soon be landing on your website, so let me tell you a couple things I look for.

First try and connect with me, give me something that would be of value to me and in return I’ll give you my email address and the opportunity to send me more information, but please don’t waste my time or yours by sending me information I don’t care about or trying to sale me something on every single mailing.

If you do either of the above then I’ll remove my name from your list and you would be hard pressed to ever build any kind of relationship with me.

Done correctly you could easily move me from prospect to buyer. But I should first tell you that there is a bit more to it than just giving me free stuff. This is like a dating game and you are going to have to do a little more than just buy me little cheap gifts to get my attention.

And just like in the world of dating so goes the world of business, you’ve got to know what your prospect wants. The more you know about your prospect the better your chances are of making the sale. Good conversions come with a really good understanding of your prospect.  So, you need to understand as much as you can about your prospect as you can.

Surprise Me:

Throw something else in if I make the purchase. Sweeten the pot a little but not too much because you might scare me away.

The Leader of the Pack:

Nobody likes being left out, make me think everyone else is doing it and I might just jump on board to be in the in crowd. Or if it’s new and improved I might buy it because I believe it is better. After all don’t we all love to be on the cutting edge?

Get My Attention:

There is nothing like a little controversy to get my attention. It’s also a great way of spreading a message.
Make Me Wait For It:

As a prospect I want you to understand that I am a bit fickle, I could leave your site for any reason rather it be your copy, your text color, your font, or I just don’t like your design. Your only chance is to make your copy so good that I can’t stop reading it, you know like one of those bad movies that you keep watching just to see how the Arthur is going to bring it all together.

Now I am not talking about all hyped up junk where you keep telling how great your product is over and over just to keep me on the site. It makes me believe that you think that I am an idiot. And I normally don’t buy from people that I think believe that I am an idiot.

And if I purchase from you, you had better over deliver or next time I will buy from someone else.

The Sale!

The other day the shoe store down the road called to let me know they were having a sale. I didn’t have a desire to buy any shoes nor was I planning to go to town anytime soon but come on, it’s a sale.

Yes, it still works, put it on sale. I bought 4 pairs of shoes from a store that was packed full of people.
