The idea is quite simple;

1. Set up a squeeze page

2. Rewrite someone else’s articles

3. Submit them to ezinearticles

4. Place a link in your bio box that links to your squeeze page to capture leads and build a list

5. Promote someone else’s e-book and make money off the commission.

Does It Work?

Believe it or not it does.

But the amount of money you make isn’t all that much and to make it worst you’ve got to wait about 45 days to get paid.

To make decent money you need to be sending out about 50 to 100 articles per day. Ouch…doesn’t sound like the internet dream everyone has been talking about.

The Article BS

If you’re really fast and able to send out 50 to 100 articles per day you can make about $3.50 per an hour.

But now you’ve got a list, and those articles will be around for years to come and will continue to make you money, right?

The Truth about Article Marketing

A lot of the “bum marketing” gurus have made claims that an article will make you about $20 per month. But then it’s easy enough to make such claims, if it doesn’t work then they can point the finger back at you and say you must have done something wrong. Maybe your header wasn’t good enough or you squeeze page wasn’t set up correctly, or maybe your offer just wasn’t good enough.

But let’s take a look at their math – if you had 100 articles, each making 20 bucks a month… that’s $2,000.

Now… let’s say you write 3 articles a day, which would be 100 articles a month.
It would look like this…

• · Month 1: $2,000
• · Month 2: $4,000
• · Month 3: $6,000
• · Month 4: $8,000
• · Month 5: $10,000

The Article Marketing Trick

It should take you about 5 months to build a 5 figure business and at that point you could pretty much let it run on autopilot.

But it’s all BS
It doesn’t work out that way, you’ve got to get your article to rank in the search engines, compete with another 10,000 guys all trying to do the same thing you’re doing and hope that someone reads the whole article and clicks on the bio-box at the bottom of the page.

If you can send 100 people per day to your squeeze page then you are really kicking ass, but then you’ll be lucky if you can convert 10% of those and once you get those to convert you’ve got to email your offer and hope that you’ll be able to convert a high enough number of those to make it worth your time.

Now… you’ll have to wait to get paid until you’ve made at least $100.00 and once you’ve made the $100.00 you’ll be looking at another 2 months for the paper work to get done.

That doesn’t sound much like the internet dream to me and let’s not forget that offers change, so we have to stay on our feet and be ready to jump from one offer to the next at the drop of a hat.

A Better Article Marketing Dream

Once you realize the first article marketing method is all BS the gurus will tell you not to worry, cause they’ve got a better idea for all of us losers that are unable to make it with the first simple and easy to use method.

Become a “ghostwriter”. Now… the name sounds a lot cooler than it really is. What you will be doing is creating content for guys that have a little money and want to make more money with the method all the gurus are talking about; you remember… the one you tried before.

You’ll find a high turnover of clients because the first method doesn’t work and once these guys figure out they’ll be moving on to something else.

It’s all one big game, the gurus are telling you about all the money you can make by promoting their products and they are sitting back laughing their asses off at how stupid you are for trying.

The guys making the big money aren’t promoting someone else’s products and they aren’t submitting articles to article sites. These guys are innovative, and have a kickass backend and follow up sequence in place.

The Guru’s Idea

I’ll pay the first guy a little money to write me an article promoting my new e-book then I’ll let him write it. You know, the dumbass that believed the money was in article writing. Once he finishes I’ll tell all the guys that believe the money is in submitting the articles to the article sites to promote my new great e-book.

They’ll spend the next couple months promoting the e-book and will be lucky to make $100.00 throughout the whole process but since I’ve got thousands of these guys doing this all be making thousands.

Once it’s all said and done I’ll come back to my new list (that all these guys made for me) and promote my new and better product to them. And the coolest part of this method is that all the guys doing the article marketing and believing it’s the best thing since sliced bread bought the how to make money with article marketing e-book from the same guru.

And the guys being abused writing articles bought the how to make money writing articles from this same guru.

How do you say wake the fu** up in English???

How to Really Making Money with Article Marketing

Step one, launch your own product.

Instead of submitting to ezine articles, contact people who have monthly paid or free newsletter they send to their subscribers. Offer to write a guest column for them, free of charge.

All you ask in return is they put a link back to your website in your author’s bio box.

“Guest Blogging”
Instead of submitting the article to ezine articles… find someone with a high-traffic blog in your niche… most these guys would love free content for their blog.

Just email them and tell them you’ve got an article that you believe their blog readers would love.

Tell them it’s a one of a kind article that will only be posted on their blog.

Stop promoting the gurus products and start looking at how the gurus are making money. Copy them, not their BS how to get rich e-book they are trying to sale you.

Search Engine Optimization Tips

I just saw a video were a guy claims to be making close to $500.00 a day off one keyword, doing PPC. It looked real, but just about anything can be faked however, the method was pretty solid.

Here’s the thing…instead of trying to rank for a keyword like web hosting, he ranked for host gator coupons.  The fact that he was going after a business name instead of the main keyword for that niche allows him to rank with less competition. The conversion rate is a lot higher because anyone that searches for Gator Hosting Coupons has already decided who they are going to do business with, now they are just trying to get the best price before buying.

It’s targeting a company’s name along with an action word, it’s nothing new but just thought it was interesting that the guy was claiming to be making so much money from such a simple method.

The SEO Industry

This is a comment I left on this blog.

I wasn’t going to do it but I just could not believe that not only would these guys screw over their clients but they’d post about it on the internet. I can only hope that their current clients find the information and are as excited about continuing to send these guys money as they are too be screwed over.

I’ve never seen so many stupid people gather in one spot; as a matter of fact I have seen more intelligence at a pot smoking festival.

Here we have, what I thought were some of the best minds in the SEO industry, talking about how a lame ass excuse for SEO, that screws over the client, is a great idea. Basically we have one guy that claims to be doing SEO for clients, thinking that sneaking a spamming ass link page onto the client’s site is a really cool thing to do.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I care a hell of a lot more for my clients then that. And the original poster really didn’t bother me all that much, it was all the dumbasses that left comments about how great the technique was that really upsets me.

You guys call yourself SEO’s yet this is the best you can come up with for finding backlinks, it must suck being you. No wonder the SEO industry has such a bad name.

I watched a video the other day were a guy claimed to have taken a website from doing a couple thousand a month to a hundred thousand a month by doing nothing more than adding a referral script.

He acted like it was some type of new thing when in reality I have had referral scripts for the last couple years, ever since I saw it used in the adult industry.

What they would do would be to have a couple sexy pictures of a girl on the site, then have more pictures that you couldn’t see unless you refereed X number of friends to the site. The more friends you sent the more photos you got to see.

I thought about using it on a marketing site but after sometime blew the idea off and never thought about it again. What this guy did was some videos on his products and you got to watch the first couple videos for free, from there you could either refer friends are buy the videos.

I think it’s a heck of an idea; however I have a hard time believing that he took his business from $3,000.00 a month to $100,000.00 a month with just that.

But either way, I am willing to give it a try.

New York Web Design

When it comes to ranking a website on the search engines there are a lot of things we can do to increase our chances of ranking, but if the website doesn’t have some age and trust behind it, it becomes a lot harder to rank the website no matter how competitive or un-competitive a keyword is.

If I was trying to rank a new site for a keyword like New York Web Design then I would start by looking at onsite optimization first.

So…let’s say I was about to launch a new website and wanted to make that website rank for New York Web Design.

First thing I would do is make a couple onsite tweaks to my site and I’d keep in mind that these are tweaks made site wide and not just to my home page.

Title Tags – I believe that title tags are one of the most important parts of onsite optimization, second only to a websites URL. For maximum optimization I would focus on putting my PRIMARY keyword (New Your Web Design) into the title tag of the page I wanted to rank for the keyword New Your Web Design.

Header Tags are too easy to add not to add them.  I would add <h1> <h2> and <h3> tags. This tells search engine spiders what I feel is important and it also helps to draw attention to a specific thought whenever a human visitor lands on that page.

Image Tags Once again, extremely easy to add and since the search engine spiders are unable to identify text that is contained within images itself, this tells them what the image is about. I would add keywords specific to my New York Web Design page as the image can also rank in the search engines and I’ve seen images get more searches then some keywords get.

Keyword Location I always put my keywords in the order in which I want to rank. Other words, if I have a page that I am trying to rank for website designers and web designs and web designers is the more important keyword to me then I’ll have web designers show up first in the title, header tags and text on that page.

Anchor Text internal linking is very important and I try to rotate my internal anchor text from one page to the next. Other words I use varying anchor text, so that I am able to rank one page for multiple keyword phrases.

I’ll also get links coming into those pages from different campaigns like but not limited to, article marketing, video marketing, blog marketing and even forum marketing to name a few.

Site Structure
The structure of my website is vital to my SEO traffic. A properly structured website has the content organized into categories. The article inside each category will have more relevance because it is properly themed.
Each category will have a directory inside it and all articles will be contained in that category.

The idea is to build a website that is organized like a pyramid. My main keyword would be at the top of the pyramid and the site would break down into more specific keywords as I moved down the pyramid.

For example, the main page might be insurance and the first set of categories could be car insurance, boat insurance, and life insurance and so on. Going into car insurance I could have Atlanta Georgia car insurance, Miami Florida car insurance and inside those folders I would have best prices on car insurance in Miami Florida, best prices on car insurance Atlanta Georgia and so on and so on.

Keeping in mind that every page I add to my website starts off with some kind of PR it wouldn’t take long to have built a website that has the ability to rank itself for most specific keywords.

The keywords that were a little harder to rank for I’d add a little outside link juice to in order to help boost those and then that link juice would flow through the site helping all the other pages on the site as well.

And since I’ve started talking about keywords I want to get a little deeper into the type of keywords I start off trying to rank for. You see with a new website I’ve found that targeting buyer keywords is the best way to start. These are keywords that are typed in when people have already done their research and are ready to make a purchase.

For example if someone has just bought a car and is looking for insurance their search might go something like this.

Let’s say our guys name is Bill and Bill is from Atlanta Georgia and has just bought a new car and is looking for insurance.

Bill goes to Google and does a search for insurance, after looking through the top ten results he is overwhelmed by all the different types of insurance. We have life insurance, home insurance, health insurance, boat insurance, flood insurance and the list goes on and on.

So…Bill returns to Google and does a search for car insurance.

This is almost what Bill is looking for and he is getting a good idea on prices but he’s still not happy with the results.

So…once again Bill returns to Google and does a search for best prices on car insurance.

Now Bill is finding exactly what he is looking for and he is almost ready to make purchases but before he does…

He returns to Google to make one more search and this time its best prices on car insurance in Atlanta Georgia.

The more precise the keyword phrase the easier it becomes to rank and the more likely the searcher is to convert into a buyer.

A lot of times people will first look for a solution to a problem and once that solution is found they will start looking for product names to make the purchase.

If someone is looking for a cure for arthritis the first search might be “Best Arthritis Cure” once they narrow the search down to a couple products the will begin searching Google for those products.

The searcher goes back to Google and types in keyword phrases like: ‘Product XYZ Review’ OR ‘Buy

product XYZ’, or simply ‘Product Name’.

It is at this stage that our searcher is ready to make a purchase and these are the keywords that are easy to rank for. And it is these types of keywords that cause conversion to increase and money to be made with a site.

The best part about ranking for these types of keywords is that we don’t need to sale the product. The searcher is looking for information so an information page with a buy now link is all we need.

With the keywords the idea is to go after the extremely specific easy to rank for search terms add pages to our site and double back on the less specific keywords once we’ve built up a powerful website.

Building Traffic with Backlinks

Once I’ve got the onsite stuff set up like I want I’ll move into playing with Backlinks. One of the things I’ll do at this point is to set up a blog, and when I start doing blog commenting I’ll funnel some of those links back to my blog.

A blog comment is normally a low PR comment that is mixed in with a lot of other comments, which devalues the outgoing link even more due to all the other outgoing link. And if that’s not bad enough a lot of blogs kick out your comment as spam if you use anything other than your name as the anchor text.

What I’ll do is funnel those comments into my blog and then from my blog link to the pages I am having trouble ranking with the keyword I want to rank for as anchor text.

Something else I’ll do is find some powerful blogs in my niche and see if the blog owners allow guess posting. This is one of the best ways to drive traffic as well as get a link back to the page on my site that I am needing some link juice for.

And I’ll also find some forums out there that I can start posting on as well.

There are a lot of ways to drive traffic to a website, the only reason I started with search engine traffic is because it is a lot more targeted then just about anything else. Trying to rank for a keyword like New York Web Design isn’t a bad place to start although I would think that starting with something like New York Web Designer might get you better traffic.
