This is one of the best ways to drive traffic and sell products online. Done correctly you can start seeing the results in less than 24 hours.
And the best part is that it doesn’t cost anything to get started.
This strategy is known as a “joint venture”.
It’s basically nothing more than asking potential partners to promote your product through an affiliate link and paying them a commission on any new sales they refer through the link.
Getting Started
We want to make it as easy as possible for our partners to not only promote or products but to track the money they make as well as continue promoting months and even years later.
We do this by
A.) Giving them a prewritten sales letter to send to everyone on their list, followed by a second, third and even fourth letter set up and ready to be mailed.
B.) Giving them a prewritten article of about 500 words about our product that they can mail to their online or offline newsletter subscribers.
C.) A prewritten e-course of about 7 content-rich messages that can be loaded into an auto responder.
D.) Lots of cool custom designed banners and buttons that can be added to their site.
E.) A prewritten interview that partners can send to their list or post on their site were you answer 10-15 questions about your company and the product.
Also let your partner know that they can customize all the marketing material in order to get the most from their list.
The idea is to encourage your partners to continue promoting the product for months or even better years to come.
How to Find Potential Partners
One of the best ways to find potential partners is through Google. You can do a couple different types of searches to come up with a list of potential partners.
- 1. Search String #1: inurl:[keyword]
You can go to Google.com and type in inurl:[keyword] – insert a keyword related to your product in the place of the keyword.
Examples
inurl:website design
inurl:search engine optimization
- 2. Search String #2: intitle:[keyword]
The idea is the same as about, except instead of searching the website URL, Google searches the TITLE of the pages..
- 3. Search String #3: allintitle: [keyphrase]
Now we are looking for a phrase that is in the title.
- And less not forget about doing searches for people in related industries. I’ve got a web design business but sell hosting almost daily. I can do a search for hosting companies and promote my web design services to them.
Now it’s Time to Contact the People in Our List
We are going to start by visiting the sites and looking for the contact information on the websites.
I wouldn’t contact more than about 10 day, this way by the end of the month we will have contacted 300 potential partners.
Now, here’s what the actual mailing may look like…
————- Begin Sample Mailing ————-
Dear John,
I read the June 1st issue of your newsletter tonight and have a quick question for you.
I noticed that you published an article from an outside contributor and was wondering if you accept articles for publication.
I’ve written an article entitled, “How to Make Money Online” that I think your subscribers might be interested in.
I’d be glad to send you the article for your review with no obligation, of course.
Please just let me know.
Best regards,
Janeth Duque
————- End Sample Mailing ————-
Now what?
Well if they say, “No” or don’t respond at all, so what?
However, if they respond, “Yes” then we send them a copy of the article and let them know they can put their affiliate link in the resource box if they want to earn a commission on any referrals.
We’ve just opened the door and can start telling them about further customizing a report, giving away a mini-course, interviewing us and a variety of other things that will lead to sales.
There are three things to keep in mind when contacting potential partners.
Key #1: Personalization. Always, personalize your email with a new potential partner.
You will always get a better response by personalizing your correspondence.
After all, you are about to become partners.
Key #2: Presentation. Always, check your email BEFORE you send it for typographical, grammatical and formatting errors.
Send yourself a copy of it before mailing it out. Proofread it carefully.
Key #3: Profitability. Always, stress how beneficial the joint-venture will be for the potential partner. Not necessarily in terms of “money”.
Stress the fact that they get free, useful content to share with their network, and a way to earn a commission if their contacts decide to make a purchase.
Remember to stress the benefits.
And let them know that there are no drawbacks.
Convince them that they can’t-lose.
