I spend a lot of time on forums interacting with other web designers and marketers and most days I enjoy it. However, there are times when I have to reframe from what I really want to
say.
For example today a group of people where talking about how important W3C validation is to your website ranking. It’s not the least bit true, W3C validation has nothing to do with how well your website does or does not rank. Do a search for your favorite keyword and check and see how many websites in the top 20 validate, if you can find 5 out of 20 you’re doing better than I did.
A list of 200 things your website needs and validation might make the bottom of the list at best. The sad truth is that every person debating validation in that discussion was selling it as a service and even worst everyone of them had an ugly website.
I believe at the end of the day when you have nothing else to sell you look for something simple like web validation and ignore more complicated things like website conversion.
