Sometimes when we are online surfing the Internet when we are brought back to reality. It’s not ever a fun experience but one that makes us stop, think and sometimes even cry.
Messing around a bit on BoingBoing I came across this site A Wish For Ava. The site is dedicated to a little girl who has cancer and in almost every picture you see a beautiful little girl sitting laughing and having a good time.
I think I’m going to start donating a part of everything my business makes to helping kids with diseases. I’m willing to work harder and do with out in hopes that maybe I can help out one little baby.
A little follow up on the Second Life post. This article talks about people who are actually getting hired for real jobs inside Second Life.
Maybe we had better all get started playing a little on second life before we get left out of the loop.
As more and more people start blogging it seems that more and more people try and figure out ways to make money with blogs. We already have the poor mans way to make money online, PayPerPost.
But now there is a new product to help the blogger sell products online. It’s called a booBox and you can read more about it here.
It appears to be nothing more then a small icon you can click on that causes a small window to open up on your blog. It does not take the visitor off your blog but allows them to purchase the product in the small window without ever leaving your blog.
The blogger gets a commission and the visitor gets his/her product. Sounds like everyone wins to me and to make it work you only have to add a little html code to your blog. I’m sure a little code changing and you can change the look of the icon or change the icon all together.
I had to take a moment and update my blog after reading a blog post from Chris over at WPW’s Blog.
It moves the blogging software to 2.1 level and fixes 550 bugs. I didn’t even know there were that many bugs but have to say I love the new admin. area. Read all about it from Chris’s blog.
Have you ever wondered what the Internet will be like in 10 years? Now we can get an idea. It seems that some people feel that Second Life is the way of the future.
Within that digital realm you can go anywhere. There are stores, beaches, golf courses, bars, ski areas, high-rise office buildings, fantastical animated cities, medieval role-playing regions, and sex clubs, all created by the users. Second Life has about 334,000 regular visitors. More than 2.6 million have checked it out, a figure that in mid-January was growing by about 20,000 per day.
Big business like IBM are looking at Second Life as a platform to build a whole new Internet and they have the money and backers to do just that. They see it has a way to sell merchandise and products online that takes social networking to a whole new level.
Looks like all the SEO’s will have to become tour guides. lol
The whole story is here and it’s and interesting one.
