Dave Pasternack

Dave Pasternack

I find it funny that one person can get so many people so upset. But I also have to wonder if Dave Pasternack did it on purpose. Dave Pasternack got everyone so upset that they all started talking about him and even started a contest to try and rank for his name.

This is a good example of link bait and one that was brought about so nicely that the guys linking out to Dave and posting his pictures all of the Internet don’t even realize how much they are helping the guy out. But the best part of all is that all these SEO’s are trying to rank for a keyword that Dave Pasternack the want to be SEO does not rank for and neither do they. The person ranking for the name Dave Pasternack is chef David Pasternack. And he’s not even an SEO, and to help him keep is #1 ranking I’m going to send some links his way.

Good luck chef Dave Pasternack and way to link bait the other Dave Pasternack even if you don’t know how to rank a website you did get everyone talking about you.

Selling Colombian

I wrote this earlier today and I’m copying it over to here so everyone can see what I’ve been up to all day.

My name is Janeth Duque and I’m the owner of PicoPico.

I’m going to take a moment and try and explain why I created PicoPico. The words in Spanish mean kiss kiss and are normally spoken when speaking to a small child. The idea for the name came from the website BoingBoing, as a matter of fact the idea for the whole site came from BoingBoing.

Let me try and explain.

I was surfing the web one day when I ran across the website BoingBoing who had a link to a website about Ava, a little girl who was diagnosed with cancer. As I was sitting, crying and wishing there was something I could do to help, I decided to try and help out the little kids here in Colombia, that have problems.

I don’t want a website where I try and collect money and put that money to use. I want a website that will make money and use the money it makes to help the kids. PicoPico is a website that will sell merchandise from Colombia, around the world and the money made off this merchandise will go towards helping needy kids here in Colombia.

A website made by Colombians, marketed by Colombians, selling Colombian products, to help Colombian kids.

The problems with making money in Colombia, turns into a gift when selling on the Internet.

Colombia is a poor country and the people here are happy to make $10.00 per day and because it is a poor country they learn how to make unique handmade products that can be sold on the street corners. There are so many people selling items on the street, that in order to make one product outsell the other persons product the quality has to be higher or so unique that there is little or no competition.

Here’s what I did.

I started giving PicoPico 10% of everything we make from each of our businesses including our website design business. This has allowed PicoPico to hire a full time staff and start purchasing merchandise to sell in our shopping carts. Magda Arce will be running PicoPico and the shopping cart here will be gift ideas for kids. I’ve also bought the website Colombia Art that will be used to sell art work from different artist here in Colombia and that website will also be ran by Magda as well.

How serious am I about the business?

I’ve put my name on the site and my baby, niece and nephew in the header, you can bet we will do our best to make sure this business is run to the highest standards and the money is used to help children in need.

A Wish For Ava

Sometimes when we are online surfing the Internet when we are brought back to reality. It’s not ever a fun experience but one that makes us stop, think and sometimes even cry.

Messing around a bit on BoingBoing I came across this site A Wish For Ava. The site is dedicated to a little girl who has cancer and in almost every picture you see a beautiful little girl sitting laughing and having a good time.

I think I’m going to start donating a part of everything my business makes to helping kids with diseases. I’m willing to work harder and do with out in hopes that maybe I can help out one little baby.

Luck

I wrote this in a forum post a while back when someone was talking about everything or most everything having to do with luck. Someone brought it back up today and I thought it was worth a blog post. This is my response to the post and what I think about luck.

I don’t believe in luck, although I do believe that God looks out for us and sometimes allows things to happen, to get us back on track.

But the real problem with luck is the abuse it has taken over the years.

People refer to the poor as the “unlucky” and to the rich as “the lucky”

This way we don’t blame the person that ignores education, has no work ethics and develops poor decision making. He’s just unlucky.

There’s no personal fault involved, they can’t be blamed, its just bad luck.

The rich, their success has nothing to do with attention to education, willingness to work or careful decision making.

They were just lucky.

In this way we can destroy the individual and account everything to luck.

This allows the government to come and take the money from the rich and give to the poor.

After all the rich did not earn the money they were just lucky, so they should have to share their money with the less lucky.

Do I Have A Life

This post is to answer two questions that I get asked often on forums.

Do I sleep?
Do I have a life?

I wake up everyday around 5:30, take a shower and go to my little office at the house. I have an office in town but I’m rarely seen around there these days. My husband is the one that deals with the employees and sets up the jobs, I have people at the house that cook, clean and take care of my daughter.

On a normal day I start off by checking my emails, then I move into the forums and after that I start writing in my blogs. I have 7 blogs I try to post in at lest once a day and the same number of forums I try and post in everyday.

I spend an hour in the morning with my daughter before she goes to school and try to spend an hour with her in the afternoon when she gets out of school. When my husband gets home from our web design office in town my daughter, husband and myself will all go to the mall eat an ice cream talk a little and come back home. I normally go to bed around 11:00 and hardly ever watch any TV.

Roughly I spend around 12 hours a day online either reading, writing, posting in forums or posting in my blogs. A lot of people ask me do I sleep and the answer is yes, I try and sleep 6 hours every night. A lot of people say that I’m a workaholic and this is not true, I love what I do and do not consider it working. I spend my days playing online and at the end of the day I hope I’ve made enough money to pay the bills and take my daughter to the movies.

I enjoy learning and testing different methods of designing and marketing but do not consider what I do working. Some people enjoy watching TV and playing video games, I enjoy reading and learning. People want to say that I don’t have a life because I spend so much time online, this is untrue, because I spend so much time online it allows me to have the money needed to take my daughter to the movies, go out to eat with my husband, hire people to work for me, go out shopping with family and friends and take vacations when I want to.
It’s true, I spend a lot of time online but this allows me to have a life.
