Google In Bed With The CIA

David Steele Former CIA case officer claims that Google is in bed with the CIA.

He made the comments on a talk radio show with Alex Jones.

He went on to say that the fight against the US Department Of Justice for privacy for it’s users was nothing more then a charade for the users of Google.

If this true then I guess the term don’t be evil is a double standard. Do as I say not as I do.

New Site Locates Sexual Offenders

The site was created by National Coalition of Victims in Action called “Family Watchdog.” It was started in 2005 by Steve Roddel. Steve started the site because he was tired of hearing about missing children who had been killed by registered sex offenders.

It is a nicely done site with a local map search powered by Google. Sexual offenders show up as colour dots, the colures indicate the type of crime committed.

The site is free and shows registered sex offender�s location in 44 different states.

MSN Search Responds

On Friday I posted in the GOS forum regarding Microsoft’s beating Google, their was also a lot of bloggers that posted about this in their blogs. It looks like Microsoft was surprised by all the attention and has responded on their blog.

“We are committed to building the world�s best search engine which helps you get your answers as quickly as possible � and we are excited to spend many years continuing to innovate on our customer�s behalf.”

“When you talk about basic web relevancy, our customers report that we�ve made some great progress over the past year, and I know that our research and engineering pipeline is overflowing with intriguing ideas that we will test and release as they�re ready.”

“…we won�t try to predict the progress of our competitors and so we won’t forecast when we might take the lead, but this is a long term game and we are committed to helping drive the next wave of innovation in search for our customers.”

Now they are saying they might take the lead. A big change from they will take the lead. Guess they got scared.

I noticed now that when I do a search for something on Google in the top right hand corner is my email address and name.

I don’t like it so I logout, I’m sure it doesn’t mean that big brother isn�t still watching, but it does make me feel a little better. I don�t trust Google with all my personal information. However it does seem their the only one�s trying to protect me.

�How Much Information Is Their?�

Just for those that don�t know, Google stores all of its searches on its databases in Mountain View, Calif. This is to help personalize results for its users. If someone was to get hold of this information they could find out every search we have ever made, what we looked for, which ads we clicked on and how long we stayed on that site.

When you add in your Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail account you�re talking about a lot more information. With these they can find out every email you�ve gotten or sent. Don�t worry about deleting them, Google keeps them even after you hit the dealt button.

�Yahoo, MSN and AOL Turn Over Your Personal Information�

In the news today I found out that all the major search engines (AOL, MSN, Google and Yahoo) where asked by the Bush administration to turn over all their search data. Google was the only one to refuse.

Guess Google is the only one looking out for me.

I think it is sad that the others turned over the information so fast.

When I do a search on a search engine I trust them to keep my information private. Guess that’s asking too much.

I don�t think any Government has the right to read any letter or email I send nor do I think they have the right to see what I searched for.

In the long run, I think, this will hurt the Internet a lot more then the porn industry ever has. We now have to read and reread all our emails before we send them.

Plus be careful of what we search for. Big Brother is watching.

�No One Ever Told Us�

I wonder what ever happened to my privacy.

No one ever told me they were going to take it away.

Guess this is what happens when we sleep.

I can understand the Bush administration’s anti-pornography law and the need for help.

But to take a private company and force them to turn over all their records is just wrong. I also should be told that if I use a search engine that anything I do will be recorded and sent to the Government.

Whoever said we were free lied.

I�m not willing to turn over my rights to stop porn.

Not that I have a choice.
