More About Geeks on Steroids...

Geeks on Steroids has been building custom designed websites for over eight years. Geeks on Steroids has a staff of six people at this time and while it is a small staff it is the perfect size for us. If you are looking for a company that gives a home town feel then you are in the right place because we want every client to be our best friend.

Another Tit-Bit...

Geeks on Steroids did search engine optimization for a select group of clients several years ago but decided to get out of online marketing for other people and focus on our own sites. This year after many meeting and lots of talks we have decided to once again start offering search engine optimization.

PPC Ads And Forums

I decided to add the PPC ads back to my forum and a couple blogs I own.

I had gotten out of this for a while but the money is a little harder to walk away from then I had first thought.

The first time out we did around $10,000.00 a month but built a lot of junk sites and spent almost what we made in advertising and building more junk sites.

I now feel that the first step is building quality sites and making sure each site has an alternative way to make money.

Since by web design business is already established and I have a forum on that site, I decided to start there.

The big problem with forums is that most of your site visitors are the same people returning day after day and they become blind to the ads on the site.

I've put a good bit of thought into this and decided the best way around it is changing the ads every time someone takes an action on the site.

We added in both pictures and ads for our other sites in with the PPC ads. Every time the browser refreshes you see something totally different.

This should keep people looking at the ads and cure the banner blindness problem that so many sites suffer from.

I'm not sure how it's going to work out yet but thought I would ask for other's opinions on this.

PPP

I’ve been playing around with some blogs for the last couple days and I’ve decided that I like the whole blogging idea.

As a matter of fact I’ve even decided to build a couple blogs that are selling products as well as looking into other ways that I can make money with blogs.

One thing that really interested me was the PayPerPost better known as PPP. It seems to be a fairly new idea but one that has a lot of potential.

I’ve found 4 companies that are doing this but was not impressed by any of them.

1.I couldn’t figure out how to work their site.
2.Had some things going on that were just scary.
3.Was coming but was not here yet.
4.Was wanting to sell text links on my site.

It’s a bit upsetting since I really like the idea, so I’ve decided to take one of my sites  and set up a private forum where Advertisers can meet bloggers and work out how much the advertisers are willing to pay for a product review.

I’m not planning on making any money off the site, it’s just a meeting place for bloggers and advertisers.

The bloggers get the chance to make a little money and the advertisers get to gain some traffic and make a little buzz about their product or site.

Think about having 10 or 15 thousand bloggers blogging about you and your company.

Seems like a win, win opportunity to me.

More PPP Companies

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again, I’m not much of a blogger but I do enjoy making money online. We’ve done pretty well for the last 4 years but I’m always looking for new ways to make money.

The last week or so I’ve been looking into making money with blogs and I really like the idea.

I may even become a blogger. (:

I’ve found four companies that will pay you for post PayPerPostCreamAid,inBlogAds and ReviewMe, I’m sure others will be coming out soon enough.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on these and I will be posting mine once I dig into the concept a little more.

Google AdSense Account Reinstated

I’ve had a couple people ask me about this so I’ll post what I know on the subject.

I’d also like to say that Google can ban you while you’re waiting on a $20,000.00 check and then they keep the money.

So I’d never recommend doing this as a full time job.

Also keep in mind that I was not using Google AdSense to make my money, I was using something similar to it but was trying to keep up with everyone at the time.

I’ll start with how to get a site banned and move from there on to how to get a site unbaned.

1. You can get your site banned if you click on your own ads. One click will do it.

2. You can get banned for asking other people to click on your ads.

3. You can get banned if a site visitor clicks too many times on your ads.

4. If your traffic has unusual spikes durian the day, they will ban you.

5. If your traffic clicks too many times on the same age, they will ban you.

6. If your traffic has spikes at certain times durian the day, they will ban you.

7. The same people returning everyday and clicking on the ads can get you banned.

8. Having low or no clicks can get you banned.

All the letters seem to say the same thing, that you were banned for invalid clicks. But there are a lot of reasons you can get your account.

Now how to get an account reinstated.

Start by going here https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/request.py

After that start sending very, very nice emails and continue to do so every day for about 2 months. Never threaten legal action, just continue to kiss up everyday for about 2 months and they will eventually let you back in.

“Websites That Get Visitors To Take Action”

“Websites That Get Visitors To Take Action”

The second a visitor gets to your website there is an invisible clock that starts counting the seconds you have to convince that visitor to stick around long enough to make a purchase.

Does your website have what it takes to convert a visitor into a customer?

In order for a website to convert a visitor into a customer it has to have a look and feel that lets the visitor know he’s in the right place.

I’m not going to go into the design in this article but would like to focus more on setting up pages for your products.

Let’s keep in mind that we only have 3 seconds to convince our visitor that his or her life would be more complete – better, easier, more productive, more profitable and happier – if that reader owned what it is we are selling.

This needs to be done for each product on our site, so throwing everything into a shopping cart and calling it done isn’t going to cut it.

Nor will sending all our visitors to our home page, each product needs its own page and that page is where we need to convert that visitor from a fast surfer to a spending customer.

These pages need to focus on one product and not the whole site. While a search feature is a good idea links to other pages of the site are not. We don’t want to confuse the visitor with other products or information.

Our text needs stop them in their tracks, people buy on impulse and our text needs to create that desire in them that causes them to want to purchase our product. We’ve got one shot with this, so we need to focus on how the owner of this product will benefit.

Our product pictures need to be larger than normal, we want our pictures to catch their eye and increase the interest they have already shown in the product.

Showing really good pictures a long with the text will also help in getting the visitor to want to purchase the product.

The text needs to be large and easy to read.

We want everything above the fold.

Now the page needs to build trust.

This is done by adding all our contact information, not just our email address, but a physical address and phone number.
