More About Geeks on Steroids...

Geeks on Steroids has been building custom designed websites for over eight years. Geeks on Steroids has a staff of six people at this time and while it is a small staff it is the perfect size for us. If you are looking for a company that gives a home town feel then you are in the right place because we want every client to be our best friend.

Another Tit-Bit...

Geeks on Steroids did search engine optimization for a select group of clients several years ago but decided to get out of online marketing for other people and focus on our own sites. This year after many meeting and lots of talks we have decided to once again start offering search engine optimization.

“Has The Damage Been Done?”

“A New Way To Buy Links”

I'm not sure how many people have herd of or taken the time to take a look at the www.payperpost.com site.

The idea beyond the site is a good one, your able to pay a group of bloggers to blog about your site or product.

Lets say you have just added a new forum to your site and want to get the word out. You can pay around $10.00 per post and have bloggers blogging about your new forum.

But here's what I see happening.

Anything that can be used for good can also be used for bad.

Let's say I have a new dating site and need to get links to the dating site. All I have to do is sign up and get the bloggers to blog about my new dating site.

I can even tell them what link I want to use.

Before long I have 10,000 or 20,000 links coming to my site from bloggers.

Now if we add in the recent Wal-Mart scandal along with the recent Google Bombing, it's easy to see a trend coming on that Google will have to do something about.

I'm thinking that blogs may not work as well as they currently work on Google by the end of 2007.

On a side note, bloggers that are using http://www.paidperpost.com should know, that they have you add a code into the post, that allows the advertiser to see how much traffic your post sends to the advertiser.

That code can be used by Google if and when they decide it’s time to do something about the links that are being bought by advertisers.

I’m thinking banning a couple blogs might be all that’s needed to bring the whole thing to a stop.

But then I’m not Google so I don’t know how they will handle the problem.

Google is well aware of the Bombing that takes place and in most cases chooses to not remove the results (like Bush still ranking for the word “failure”). It’s not hard to determine what they’re political stance is….

The Paid Per Post site seems like an expensive link-building method. I guess if the blogs are extremely popular, the back-links would be worth far more than $10, but what popular (and reputable) blogger’s going to designate a post for as an advertisement? Chances are, you’re going to get an ok backlink and a nice advertisement, but I doubt it translates into enough traffic and back-link quality to justify $10 per ad.
