“Nobody Cares About Your Website”
People search the web to be entertained, to find information or to purchase a product. They could careless about your website, it’s only there to serve a need.
You have 3 seconds to let your visitor know what your website is about and what it can do for them.
Here’s how that’s done.
The header should tell something about your business. If you’re selling flowers then don’t put pictures of sail boats in the header.
Your logo should let them know what your business is about.
The very first line of text should tell your visitor what you can do for him/her.
Your navigation and look should be consistent through out the whole site. Don’t make your visitor think they have left the site each time they go to another page.
Your website needs to work no matter what screen size your visitor is using or which browser he is using.
Flash presentations serve no purpose. Your visitor does not want to sit through a silly commercial before he can see what your site can do for him. As the owner of the site you should want to make the sell as fast as possible.
Why would you want to hold the buyer up at the front door?
Your site needs to be sticky. Your site should be like a drug to each visitor that finds it.
They should want to return to your site everyday.
This is done by updating text, having a forum, news and many other ways.
Don’t put stat counters at the bottom of your page. No one cares how many visitors have or have not been to your site.
