Okay, so I had my first depth collection agency call me today and I have to say someone needs to educate them on how to go about collecting a debt.
1. Find out if anything is even owed before you start accusing people of things.
Jay calls up and starts accusing me of hiring a company to design a website and then refusing to pay for it. He had it half right, I am the one that designed the website and his client is the one that refused to pay for it.
2. First party agencies typically get involved earlier in the debt collection process and have a greater incentive to try to maintain a constructive customer relationship. That’s from Wikipedia
When I tried to explain everything to Jay and help him get his facts straight he hangs up on me. Come on Jay, grow up. Jay also claimed to be an attorney but then that was just Jay getting his facts confused again.
I call back and ask for his boss and I get William. I guess they hire people at RPS Worldwide based on how immature and disrespectful they can act.
Here are the facts for the RPS Worldwide employees.
I might have refunded the money up until the point that you idiots called up and showed your level of intelligent. As it is now I’d spend $10,000.00 to keep from paying $2,000.00. Had you been nice I might have refunded the money even though I don’t owe the money.
Had you guys looked into the matter a little more you could have be shown the finished site and seen that your client owes me money. But again, you decided to act like asses before finding out the facts.
So…to anyone thinking about hiring RPS Worldwide, I’d rethink the matter. In life things happen, I’ve seen people down on their luck one day and on top of the world the next. If a customer owes you money sending a bunch of immature asses after them will only make things worse.
In this case I don’t even owe this guy money, he owes me money and had he not called RPS Worldwide I would have tried to work something out with him, even a refund. But as it stands now RPS Worldwide has made me mad enough to come here and write this post about them.
Figure out away to get your money back without hiring RPS Worldwide, they will only make matters worse.

I agree….RPS Worldwide are rude and not helpful. My husband had a gym membership that went to collections at a different agency for $120. After we paid it, we get a call from RPS saying he owes over $3000! What idiots. They didn’t even investigate to see if we had paid and kept calling until we submitted documents showing we paid. Even then, they threatened to sue us. Good luck RPS. I work at a lawyers office and our brother in law is an attorney. RPS is the worst collection agency out there!
Hi Allison,
And for a $120.00 the gym loses a customer for life.
I’d rather take the lost on the $120.00 and hope that the client returns then to hire RPS Worldwide and have them chase the client away for life.
And I agree RPS is the worst collection agency in the world.
Anyone who has hired them should take some solace in knowing that they call, harass, threaten and annoy the “debtor” on a daily basis. I had a business dispute with someone, they must have contacted RPS to try and collect the debt. The first 14 times & 14 different people from RPS who had called, I told I do not owe the money you claim and will gladly resolve this in court. Yet every single day they continue to call trying to settle out of court, telling me I owe money.
I started getting pissed after the first week, now that i have realized they’re basically just telemarketers completely unaware of individual situations who refuse to stop calling. Now when they call I figure I might as well have some fun with them… So if you have hired them to do anything don’t worry, I’m sure my case is unique and they usually handle things better and find a way to get your money.
It sounds like my daughter owes a debt and RPS called me at my direct line at work AND also on my cell phone and harassed me. Very rude. I don’t know how they got my “direct number” at work or my cell phone number for that matter. I’m sure my daughter didn’t give both when she filled out any type of application let alone if she even gave them one. Can they do this when I am not the one that owes any money?
When I was having problems with them I sent them a LONG letter letting them know that if they contacted me one more time I would sue them for harassment. Our situation was different in that we had paid something they were claiming we owed. But the harassment by their company is still relevant. You and your daughter should send the company a Cease and Desist letter. Legally, once debt collectors receive a Cease and Desist letter they must stop calling you. You can probably find a sample one online somewhere.
If these idiots call you file a complaint with the Better Business Burreau – Since I filed with the BBB they have stopped calling me
I am on the otherside of the problem. I had a 26k bad debt in USA (I am in India) and I engaged RPS for the collection (on a fateful day).
They collected 15k and it is already 70days and they haven’t sent me my money that they collected.
I am lost on what to do.
Thanks
Satak
@ Krishna…I am curious have you received a payment from they as yet. I am experiencing the same situation as you and I’m becoming sick to my stomach as I read these reviews.
Any info would help.
Thanks
I made the mistake of trying to use RPS collection services to try collect a bad debt. Should of done more research as the internet is filled with horrible reviews. They ended up taking my legal fees and never talking to me again.
In my research to sue them them I’ve found out that this is in fact a tiny scam of a business operating out of someone’s basement in Orlando with a fancy web site. They routinely rip off their clients and are generally a bunch of con artists taking advantage of other’s misfortunes. No bank or credit card company wants anything to do with this operation, hence the reason for them not accepting credit cards.
Thanks for the information Bill, it seems that I am seeing more and more scams every day.
RPS collections is just one of many such scammers.
@Melissa: No not yet and my International Call bill is not going down any.
@Bill: Did you sue them finally? What happened? How can I sue them if I have to?
I was doing some research on RPS worldwide and came across this. We’ve been a client of theirs for nearly two years and they have collected most of our bad debt. All I can say is: pay your bills. As a business owner I have a hard time staying alive from people who don’t pay their bills, especially with the times the way they are. Nobody likes a collection agency except businesses like ours that benefit from them.
RPS WORLDWIDE….they are more than just SCAM ARTIST..they are nothing more than inexperienced collectors. They are currently under investigation by the Florida Attorney General’s Office for illegal collection tactics. They are currently collecting on debt for Global Payday Loans. A company that was involved in a 33 state class action lawsuit…THAT THEY LOST!!! RPS is aware of this…but they are trying to convince unsuspectiong debtors…they owe the money anyway. If your company hires this band of gypsy crooks….you are asking to be ripped off. On a daily basis..clients of theirs call the office looking for their remittance checks..only to be told by Basil…”the check is in the mail”..when infact, it has not even been printed.
For those of you clients that are waiting to recieve payments from RPS…forget about it!!!! They have no intention of paying ANY OF YOU. The funds that they do collect are used to support there day-day operation…and meet payroll expenses. That have VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD record keeping. The head crook is Bill Fricka himself…his favorite saying….”Blow smoke up there a—-!!”.
I used Rps Worldwide and received great services. I have been with them for over a year and they remit to me 30 days after the debt is collected to make sure the payment does not bounce. Also I paid for a claim to go through legal and it took about 9 months but defiantly paid off, i got all my legal fees back and they’re contingency rate back. I guess you win some you loose some. Not every claim is the same. Some fall through and some Go through. I’ve learned after using so many agency’s over the years. There allot of people who hate them and have bad things to say about them but more have nice things to say. People are not going to write good reviews, only bad. They have been in business for a long time so they are obviously doing something right!?
I understand that these sites are for complaints but you have to understand working with a collections agency. They are not paid to be nice, they are paid to get money. How they do it as long as its legal may not be your cup of tea but you didnt collect the money on your own so why complain about their tactics when they are doing a job no one wants to do. Im sure I never want to be in their shoes. How would you like to go to work everyday to just call people for money and get yelled at because they dont want to pay and hide from the people that they owe. Ive been guilty of that from time to time not taking phone calls because I didnt have the money. I wonder how many people would make a post on a site to say how GOOD they did for them on getting money other wise they wouldnt have? Im betting the site would have more than 10 responses. You try their job for a long time and lets see how you handle it when people are not nice to them when they are trying to resolve an issue. IF you owe the money dont gripe about it if you have it just pay it. So what they are not nice…when its turned over to a collections agency they arent SUPPOSED to be nice. Im sure if I had money owed to my business and I couldnt pay my bills Id hire them because the do what they are supposed to do. Evidently they got under your skin because you DO have the money to pay it no matter the way they went about it or what they said to you. Guilt is the only thing I see for the complainers about the way they are treated. Think about the money YOU owe to the client that hired RPS…do you think that they care that you got your feelings hurt because he was rude? No they got the money back that they were owed.
Hi Dawn,
I’ll go out on a limb here and say you work for or were hired by RPS.
Now, a lot of the people complaining here are the companies that hired RPS to collect money for them and instead of paying them they kept the money. So RPS doesn’t give the money to the people once they collect it.
And as far as your second point it’s rather stupid. “People have the money they just don’t want to pay”?
That statement alone tells me that you not only work for RPS but believe that abusing people is the correct thing to do. I run a business that will do a modest 1 million next year and I do not need nor want some jerk making $5.00 an hour calling my business and trying to collect money that I do not owe. And too make it worst I have a rude jackass calling that doesn’t have enough common sense to understand that I do not owe the money.
How does RPS find their people?
You have to find people who have no common sense, no goals in life and no desire to better themselves to come to work for you. And then you have those idiots call the productive working class and start harassing them.
No Dawn, go back to making your phone calls and getting paid by RPS to come in here and try and post stuff to make RPS not look like the stupid crooks they are.
And let me guess, you like them so much that you use all your spare time going around the internet and defending them.
They are using your money to pay people to come here and defend them.
RPS must be a hell of a company as most business owners spend all their time trying to run their own business, yet RPS has business owners who have nothing better to do then look for information and about them and defend their business.
lol, you people think everyone is that stupid?
Hi Krishna,
Have you been able to get any of your money out of RPS?
Hi Billy,
Actually the way it looks now is that they collect the debth but keep the money.
We’re a client of rps and we were starting to worry with all the negative feedback but we’re getting results. It took 30 days to receive any money which is why we were worried but it’s working out for us. I’m starting to realize now that the collection industry is pretty competitive and it’s possibly their competitors posting negative feedback?
way to debts-debth
way to spell
Any time Jennifer, what upsets RPS the worst, the fact that I am ranked so high for their name or the fact that so many of their clients are finding this thread and rethinking doing business with your company?
Yet, in the middle of a problem that they have to be aware of, you choice to come here and once again make an attack on me, this time about my spelling?
My spelling might not be the best but my ability to let people know about how you do business seems to be working pretty well.
Maybe RPS should rethink their game plan here?
I agree with Janeth. Dawn….Seriously? I work in collections and we don’t EVER treat people with such disrespect. I would never pay something I feel that I don’t owe and expect others to feel/act the same way. If RPS felt they had a legitimate claim, they could file suit. Instead they feel it is better to try to harass people until they just pay. There are WAY better collection agencies out there. If you have your claims with RPS, I recommend finding a more legitimate company.
This is a good conversation and actually good publicity for RPS. I’m just happy to see other clients of them here besides ourselves, and surely like others, we have more than one collection agency working for us. We also use WCG and of these two rps ended collecting accounts that WCG couldn’t, not to mention WCG still owes us for their last two collections (for over 4 months!!). Thinking about having RPS collect from WCG at this point. Maybe all collection agencies are crooks. Some less so than others.
Hi Allison,
Are at the very least a more professional company
Hi Kevin,
Sounds like RPS and Obama have something in common. The only platform either can run on is we might not be worth a shit but we are better than the other guy.
And while RPS might look at this and say it’s wonderful for business, if you look again you’ll see a couple people saying that they are having second thoughts about dealing with RPS. And I have to wonder how many other people have seen this, didn’t post but went with another company.
I think you’re right janeth. I dont think any collection agency is in it for a popularity contest though. I dont like that we have to send any of our accounts to collection but we’d probably be out of business if it wasn’t for it, quite frankly. These times are tough on us all and it’s not a solution for everybody but it works for us.
Kevin
And you know every business needs to figure out how they want to treat their customers. For me it’s more of wanting to be a friend and if they are having money problems I can understand that and I am willing to work with them, I’ll even lose money on a job from time to time.
The idea is that when my customers are doing better they will get straight with me at that moment. I do not think anyone goes through life intentionally not paying their bills.
I could be wrong about that but either way the point was that the people calling were too stupid to understand that there could be two sides to a story. And I would hate as a business owner to hire someone to represent my company that lacked enough common sense to cary on a conversation.
Breaking News….here is the latest inside information about RPS Worldwide. They have a V.P. of Operations, named Basil. This guy is the MOST rude and obnoxious idiot in the collection industry. In fact, he gives a profession a bad name. Whenever clients call looking for their remittance…he flat out lies to them…”the check has been mailed”. When in fact, it has NOT been mailed. First, it most be printed and signed by Wm. T. Fricka, III. Who is the owner of the agency. The reason that they pay their clients late….is so that they can use the money to pay other expenses. This is “vodoo” bookkeeping at it’s finest. Some clients call over and over again…until they have to come to the office in person…and DEMAND…their funds. Now on to what’s required of employees. You MUST work during lunch. You ARE required to take calls…even while you are eating…no exceptions. If you like to work in an office where the owner smokes…INDOORS..and doesn’t care about you breathing the air…if you want to work in an office where profanity is the language of choice…THIS IS THE DYSFUNCTIONAL COMPANY FOR YOU. As a collector, you are required to tell debtors that do not pay…that they will be sued immediately…as soon as the call is completed. Last but not least, you don’t even have to fill out an employment application…just complete a W-2.
Hi Mack,
It sounds like you worked with them in the past?
If you are working with them now you may not want to use your real name as I know that they have had their employees posting about how great they are here, because they were all coming from the same IP.
Dawn, Ha, Kelly and a couple others that tried to defend the company all work for them but then that was not that hard to figure out even without the IP’s. (-:
I used them t collect a debt for me. it was $50k owed to me. They settled, without getting anything in writing from me, for $20k. I had a large debt so i was given a fee of 30% instead of their regular 40%! August 6th they collected. I get so frustrated even writing this that I’ll make it short. I called, emailed, emailed, called, and called and emailed more. The check is in the mail. Over and Over and Over. Finally I called and told them I read their reviews and was sick to my stomach. I was told by the man i spoke to that he had a triple f rating at the BBB and he thought that was pretty ‘fan-fucking-tastic’ and that was the word he used with me on the phone. Another time I called I heard him say something to the effect of ‘tell them that’s too fucking bad’….
I called them every day, i tried crying, yelling, notes, emails, being sweet, being understanding, everything.
I finally called and asked the receptionist if I should be afraid about not eating paid and did I “have anything to worry about?” The hesitation before starting her reply made me ill. I told them they were in breach of contract because the account had never been ‘accounted for on a monthly basis’ per their contract. Finally, finally, finally, on October 14 it was resolved. I had to take the very same tactics they did. Abuse.
I was afraid to write anything during the period I waited for the monies, because who knew if they were ever going to pay.
STAY ON TOP OF THEM. Krishna, have a friend call them every single day on your behalf. Yell, scream, and get your attorney involved. It’s a good thing my attorney happens to be a friend, or I would have paid for that service too. Can you tell I’m mad? I’m F*%$&#G furious. I don’t know the amount they collected from my debtor. They were full of incredible lies and I honestly must tell you that I was surprised the Operations Manager would even take my call. The last call I had from him was after I sent an email and said “Call me immediately.” he did.
Over the weeks I was told the owner was out. there was a mistake. the check was signed, it was mailed. Please verify your address. I don’t know what happened.
I finally demanded it be federal expressed. it was. I took the check to my bank and deposited it – and really wasn’t sure it would clear (they are with Bank of America). Miracle – it cleared. I have never felt so powerless, duped, stupid, or naive for signing up to have them collect monies on my behalf. The person they collected from told me via email in the very beginning that “you will only get a fraction of what you are owed” and that she wanted to work with me on a payment plan. RPS said it was BS – and that the amount of $20k was the best I’d get and to take it or basically not ever get paid.
I am too angry to write more – but I wanted readers to know that I did get the monies. Oh and the kicker? They tried to pay me based on a 40% fee. And I said NO, I had a signed contract. I told them “No, I am not faxing it to you. You have the Fu%^ing file” and to pay me the measly $14k out of the $50k I had lost…..
Now, I’m angry again and suggest you stay on them.
Thanks for taking the time to let us know what was going on. It sounds like it took more time and energy to collect your money from RPS then it took RPS to collect the money from the client.
Based in Orlando, FL, RPS Worldwide is an international debt collection agency that refers to consumers as “professional debtors” and tells their clients that, “Those who push the hardest for their money get paid first.” RPS Worldwide seems to advocate bypassing the debt collection process altogether and, instead, moving directly to litigation. It boasts of an international network of attorneys so that small businesses can collect from consumers who are out of state or out of the country. RPS Worldwide offers creditors two options from which to choose: a flat monthly fee with no commission, or a pay-for-performance system. The latter service is carried out in three phases. First, a series of four letters is sent to the consumer and a debt collector calls the consumer daily for two to three weeks. If that doesn’t shake money out, RPS Worldwide refers the account to an attorney, who then starts calling and writing the consumer. If that doesn’t work, a lawsuit may be filed against the consumer. Since RPS Worldwide doesn’t get paid unless they collect or the lawsuit results in a judgment, there’s incentive to bring in every penny.
Stop RPS Worldwide Harassment
If you’re being harassed by RPS Worldwide or any other debt collection agency, you have every right to send a cease and desist letter to the debt collection agency asking it to stop contacting you. Keep in mind that the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act prohibits untimely phone calls, phone calls at work if you’ve asked them not to contact you there, and the use of profane language. No debt collection agency has the right to threaten arrest, confiscation of your property, or bodily harm. According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, or FDPCA, the use of threats is strictly prohibited.
Because RPS Worldwide seems so intent upon relentlessly contacting consumers, there’s every possibility that they will run afoul of the FDCPA. It’s important, then, to keep a logbook of every call, noting the date and time of the call, the debt collector’s name, and what was said in the conversation. It’s also a good idea to contact a fair debt attorney. Once you are represented by an attorney, the FDCPA says that RPS Worldwide may not contact you directly, and must instead go through your attorney. In other words, you don’t have to suffer RPS Worldwide harassment.

I got tired of dealing with RPS over a bogus debt they claimed I owed so I contacted the media here in Orlando….Got about 2 minutes of fame now I have a lawsuit against them and filed a complaint with the FL attorney general……Here is the link of the news segment….
http://www.wftv.com/news/news/action-9-investigates-debt-collectors/nFFPW/
I decided against suing RPS for stealing $700 from me. Even if I got a judgement I don’t think they would pay me nor am I convinced the business is worth anything. Last week, however, I contacted the Florida office of Financial Regulation, The Florida State’s Attorney’s office, and the Orlanda Sheriff’s office and voiced my concerns. Somehow their web site is still up so I don’t think there is any official investigation. Oh well, at least this blog is coming up in any searched of RPS Collection services and it should warn people not to use them.
Great video on RPS, it does appear that they broke the law one they contacted me. And the owner of RPS did not even sound like he was a little bit serious when he said he was going to look into the problem.
Great job Jason, I loved it.
It’s difficult to get any Government agency to do what they are suppose to be doing.
But RPS knows we are showing up for their name because every positive post in this thread about RPS is from RPS. They are not smart enough to know that when they post two things happen.
1. It helps me to rank for their name
2. I see their IP address.
By seeing their IP address I can see the location of the computer that is doing the posting, so I can see they are all from the same IP.
I also filed a complaint with the FL attn general’s office I spoke to them yesterday, RPS has not responded to the complaint yet. Here is a link to the PR release from RPS after the story ran on the news. I took them to court beecause the debt they harassed me with was from an estranged relative who is under parole orders to have 0 contact with me. It’s a unique debt. I tried explaining all of this when I got the debt letter however as I said on the news clip I was unstable LMAO…..Here is the PR release
http://www.wftv.com/news/news/local/rps-response-action-9-story/nD9Np/
So…basically or at least to me, it sounds like RPS is saying we are incent because the client provided us with documents.
RPS lacks the common sense to understand and or see that there might be two sides to a story. And upon seeing or finding out that there might be more to this than meets the eye they start verbally attacking the people on the phone and refuse to investigate the matter.
Actually what that article does not say is that they sent me my 1st collections letter August 13th however they did not recieve “proof” of the debt until Sept 19th so for over a month they harassed me over a debt that was not legit & everytime I talked to them I inquired about the proof of this debt & where it was….The finally sent it to me Sept 19th & as I told them the first time I talked to them in August I have 0 intentions on paying it begin the litigation process and take me to court….Why because I knew there was NO debt,etc….. & EVEN after that story ran on the news what did I get a week later in the mail under a new file # yep another collections letter……They said it was automatically generated however why the new file #? I wasnt buying it LOL
Hi Jason,
It looks like you are already having an affect on how they do business as well as educating me on how and what people like RPS can and can’t do.
You post have really helped me a lot.
thank you
When all this started I have a family friend whose a lawyer & he told me to request in writing proof of the debt & tell them to move fwd with litigation, etc….Because the debt was not valid & if they had taken me to court well not a valid debt, etc….If you request proof of a debt in writing they have 30 days to give it to you & if not then they have to stop pursueing the debt if they cant provide proof. I’ve learned a lot with debt collectors over the past few months LOL….In reality they can not do a damn thing to you they can not take legal action the business they are trying to collect the debt for has to decide to take legal action & well if it is under a certain amount they will not bother because it would not be worth the legal fees….As my friend whose the lawyer said it’s a $1400 debt tell them to take you to court….They wouldnt do it & we knew it was not a valid debt so if it went to court big deal…… I called the collections agency every single week asking where the proof was…I called so much they asked me not to contact them anymore…I turned the tables around on them LOL
I love it!
then after there attorney tried black mailing me telling me he would only close the case & admit they messed up if I would sign an affidavid stating I wouldnt seek legal action against them….I need that letter to violate someone’s parole who submitted the false claim….So I told him my attorney would be in touch…My attorney never called we just filed the court papers now it’s the waiting game…….
Because it was a bogus debt the person could go back to jail for violating the parole being since it was a bogus debt it is considered harassement which if there is a no contact order in affect harassment kind of violates that LMAO
I would think it should be considered very serious for both the person doing it as well as RPS.
