ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: For those concerned about stimulus spending, the General Services Administration sends word tonight that $18 million in additional funds are being spent to redesign the Recovery.gov Web site.

It’s really kind of funny, the Government is going to prove they aren’t wasting your money by spending 18 million to show you were the money has been spent. On the good side this will be the same folks running the healthcare system?

It really shows why you should support your politicians, according to FEC records, Smartronix president, Mohammed Javaid, vice president Alan Parris, and partner John Parris have together given $19,000 to House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D).

Now, how much should the website have cost?

I’d say they could have built a custom CMS with all the bells and whistles for $150,000.00. Then asked everyone that had gotten stimulus money to post some pictures into the website of how they were spending the money.

And that is really on the high side; with all the Open Source Software out there they could have used that as a base and come out pretty good on the project.

http://www.smartronix.com/ is the company that got the contract and I have to say for a company that is stealing money from the US tax payers, I am not impressed with their website. It appears to be focused on nothing more than getting more government contracts.

No contact information on the home page, design changes when you enter the site, and no home link to return to the home page.

This is defiantly a company that is not making a living online.
