I live in Colombia S.A and the one thing I’ve noticed is the things the government controls never work correctly. Makes me wonder why people would send their kids to them to be educated.

I was reading an article today by John Taylor Gatto and in the article he says that he is quitting and will no longer be teaching.

I just can’t do it anymore. I can’t train children to wait to be told what to do; I can’t train people to drop what they are doing when a bell sounds; I can’t persuade children to feel some justice in their class placement when there isn’t any, and I can’t persuade children to believe teachers have valuable secrets they can acquire by becoming our disciples. That isn’t true.

Government schooling is the most radical adventure in history. It kills the family by monopolizing the best times of childhood and by teaching disrespect for home and parents.

The best part of the article was this;

Good schools don’t need more money or a longer year; they need real free-market choices, variety that speaks to every need and runs risks.

We’ve allowed the government to come in and slowly take charge of assuring our enjoyment and fate. It has absolute power and a desire to be the agent in charge of our happiness.

It provides our security and anticipates our needs. It has developed a society of networks for regulations used to control us. It didn’t break our will but slowly softened it and bent it until they were able to direct us and heard us like sheep.

The government is destroying the free market and if the people around the world don’t make a stand our children will never run their own business or the one we’ve crawled, scrapped and bleed for. We need people in charge that understand the small business owner is the backbone for any economy.
