How Long Does It Take To Get Indexed?

I’m currently making some changes and doing some testing on a website that sells embossed bracelets.
For those that don’t know embossed bracelets are rubber or silicone bracelets with raised lettering to help add a little to what is already a really cool silicone bracelet. I guess the best way to explain it is that the letter are not engraved but are raised.

The blog is fairly new and I’ve not yet done much testing with it. I wrote a short article and posted it on the site and there seems to be a good bit of delay on Google picking up the page. Of course I wrote it 30 minutes ago and it bothers me it is not ranking yet.
My guess is that it takes a little longer to pick up a newer blog then an older blog.

It seems the more I post on some of my older sites the faster Google picks them up. This would make sense as you slowly start building credibility by making post and building a following. I’m just wondering how much posting it takes to get Google’s attention.

A blog that has good links pointing at it, set up to ping Google and gets comments can be indexed in a matter of minutes. And I don’t mean just indexed but can also
rank for some darn good keywords.

I’ve looked online but don’t see very many people that understand what they are talking about. One guy said Google has between 4 hours and 2 days to index your site and another was trying to sale his web design service by saying his sites are indexed in a matter of minutes. Neither have a clue what they are talking about.
Guess I’ll do some testing and get back here and post what I find and for the record, I’m talking about ranking not just getting a page indexed.
