Link Building

m8 Link BuildingI’ve been making a living online for the last six years but have just recently learned that some products are just so darn boring to write about, that no matter how good the content is no one is going to link to it.

And to add to this problem the number of people searching for the product makes it seem impossible to break 100 visitors per day. And to make even funnier the competition has been in business for years and all of them seem to be buying links.

To market a product like this causes one to have to think outside the box.

The design has to be fine tuned daily in hopes of converting every visitor that lands on the site. But there is still a problem; it’s almost imposable to compete with established sites that are buying links.

But done correctly social media sites can help to level the playing field.
For example building a squidoo page about the product and then bookmarking that page and linking it back to your main site has two benefits.

1. You’re able to rank a squidoo page faster and easier than a page on a new site or even on an older site in a lot of cases.

2. There is link love coming from the squidoo back to the main site.

Last I checked you’re able to build about 10 Squidoo pages per day and I can’t think of a reason not to build all ten. I saw a really good squidoo page the other day here http://www.squidoo.com/magic_of_making_up_now.

We’ve managed to level the playing field a little but not much and have gotten the site up to 100 per day everyday now but it’s still not enough to guarantee a sale a day. It’s time to increase the traffic a little.

Increase the Traffic

The first thing we need is a list of keywords and not just any keywords but some really good ones. We jump over to Google https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal click on website content and start entering our competitions websites in the search function.

We are then able to pick and choose the keywords that best describe the product we are trying to sale. A list of about 50 is a good start. We are now going to make a list of adjectives to add to those keywords. Other words, if one of my keywords is teddy bear I’ll end up with some keywords like this.

Teddy bear

Adorable teddy bear

Adventurous teddy bear

Cuddly teddy bear

Friendly teddy bear

The list goes on and on until we’ve turned our list of 50 into a list of 350. Now it’s time to start writing articles. The idea is to use the list we’ve made and target that keyword on each article. Other words, I’ll have an article about nothing but an adorable teddy bear when I finish.

Once we’ve gotten these articles together we want to put them online where they can start ranking.

One of the best ways to do this is to set up a blog on our current site. We are able to set the blog up so it pings the search engines every time we post one of our articles. Like the website the blog needs to be constantly tested and fine tuned to get the most out of it.

However, unlike the website the search engines will know about the articles the second we post them and in most cases they will be indexed in a matter of minutes.

Pushing It over the Edge

Did you know there are hundreds of free blogging sites all over the internet? And many of these are on social media sites. This means that we can create a blog on a social media site interact with the site members and drive those visitors from the social media site to our website or blog.

And once again there is more than one benefit from doing this.

1. We meet, interact and get to know people. We become their online friend and they are a presold customer the second they decide to leave the social media site and head to our site.

2. In lots of cases the social media blogs pump link juice into our site, helping it to rank in the search engines.

3. Most social media sites are trusted by the search engines and their blogs are easier to rank in the search engines than our own blogs.

Now when doing this we bookmark the social media blogs as well as our own blog and we submit them to the directories. The stronger they are the more juice they pass and the better they rank.

Done correctly there will be no need for link exchanges and this is just one of many ways to get both traffic and links to your site.

I always wanted to write in my site something like that. Can I take part of your post to my site?
Of course, I will add backlink?

    Sincerely, Timur I.
