Designing Websites for Search Engine Optimization
I’ve been getting some traffic the last day or two for people searching for Designing Websites for Search Engine Optimization and thought I’d give my thoughts on just how crazy it is.
A website can be designed to be search engine friendly or even optimized for the search engines however, designing a website to be optimized for the search engines would be a bit strange to say the least.
Let’s take a look at a particular page on a site and I’ll try and show you why. Here’s a page about personalized bracelets.
Now the first thing we notice is that the term personalized bracelets was used in the title tag, meta tags, URL, content and h2 tag on the site. It wouldn’t have hurt for the site to have a little more text and maybe a bold font or two but other than that this page is optimized for the keyword personalized bracelets.
We also notice that the links on the left side of the page can easily be read by the search engines. This page is optimized for the search engines.
Don’t believe me?
Before the page was added to the site, the site did not rank in the top 100 for personalized bracelets and now it ranks in the top 10. I’m not sure the amount of proof you need but that seems like enough to me.
Building a website that can be optimized for the search engines is already optimized.

Nice article. I was kind of confused at first. SEO is made in order to optimize a site and not the other way around. You create a site and then have it optimized by SEO. What the SEO do is increase the traffic to your site and help make your site achieve a high rank on the search engine.
Interesting article. I agree that the use of title and header tags are extremely important and often overlooked aspects when trying to create a great site that search engines can find.
