I’ve noticed over the years a lot of business websites use Google AdSense for extra income. AdSense is an application run by Google that allows website owners to place text, image, and video advertisements on their websites. Google then pays you every time someone clicks on an ad, in most cases it adds up to a couple cents per click.

I’ve also herd business owners brag about the fact that it pays for their hosting. Hosting normally cost around $10.00 per month. So basically you are putting ads on your site that screams out you’re unable to make a living online and therefore hope to recoup some of the expenses of running your own business by sending your site visitors to another site. If it works and you’re lucky you make $10.00 per month. I’d rather get a part time job.

I have to wonder how much you lose.

When I see AdSense ads on a site I immediately look for another place to spend my money. For me it looks a lot like a going out of business sign. It basically says my site is not producing an income therefore I hope to stay in business by sending my customers to another site and getting paid in pennies.

If it was me I’d be looking at my competition and trying to figure out what they are doing that allows them to make money online and how I can do it better. If it’s an information website that has no other way to make money, then stick AdSense on it and hope for the best however, when placed on a business website it is nothing more than waving a white flag and saying I give up. If you’ve already given up on your business, then why do I want to do business with you?

About the best I can do for you is click on an ad on my way out the door, in hopes of finding a more successful and serious website elsewhere. I’m just proud of the fact that I don’t wave white flags and I’ve got the bruises and scars to prove it.
