I’ve watched people argue back and forth about a technique that’s been around for years. I never knew that so many so called SEO experts had no clue about how page
rank works.
And now we have Matt Cutts head engineer standing up and saying that using the nofollow tag no longer sculpts the pages like we first thought.
This has caused articles to be written and SEO experts to, once again try and explain something that they, once again seem to know nothing about. All these SEO experts that are writing articles and saying that the use of the nofollow tag want hurt are WRONG!
It’s hurting your site right this second.
If you’ve got 4 pages on your site and you nofollow two of them the thought was that the other pages would get all the link juice. Allowing you to rank those pages better and control which pages get the most juice.
However, it now seems that Google is no longer going to pass the pagerank to the other pages. The pagerank is gone. Basically you are running the ac with all the windows open.
How Do We Close The Windows?
If you pull the nofollow tag and replace those links with something Google cannot read, like java, then you are now able to pass the full power of the pagerank to the pages you originally wanted to.
Other Words, there are lots of ways to sculpt your pages that have nothing to do with the nofollow tag. However, leaving it in place is like running the ac with the windows down.
