The sad truth is that some of the biggest SEO companies focus most of their marketing efforts on cold calling. I’ve been in the web design business for the last ten years and can honestly say that I have never made one cold call.
With that being said I plan to start an SEO company next month and I am currently looking at all the ways to market a new company and cold calling has come up. We plan to do a combination of organic SEO, PPC, Social Media Marketing, banner advertising and much more. The much more part is where things like post card marketing and cold calling comes into play. Those are two area that I am very interested in playing around with.
The plan is to get the site set up and to start playing with both the SEO and cold calling the month of April and officially launch the business the month of May. It’s not much time but does give me a full month for tweaking the site, domain name, keywords as well as the cold calling script. I’ll hire one person and have them start off by calling potential past clients who’ve sent us an email asking for prices on website designs. Hopefully this will bring to life a couple past clients as well as give the new cold caller a little experience before being thrown to the wolfs.
