I make my living doing affiliate marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), and website designs, so when someone comes to me wanting a website that is SEO friendly I should sell it to them and blame it on their own lack of knowledge for getting something that isn’t going to get the results they are thinking it will. After all, there are website designers and SEO’s that make their total living on the whole onsite optimization thing.
But I just can’t bring myself to do it.
Here’s the truth.
If a website has good title tags, good content, good internal linking and is readable by the search engines then that’s all it needs.
Everything else comes from the website being good enough to get links from other sites.
Other words, the site has something on it that causes others to want to link to it. This can be in the form of good content, a neat little tool or something else that would make someone want to visit your site every day.
The onsite SEO shouldn’t take more than a couple hours at best. And I use WordPress on just about all my sites and never even touch the onsite stuff. I let WordPress handle it all.
So stop wasting time and money with the whole SEO friendly web design crap and start making some money.
